Toluca Towers

Everything you've read here is true and so is the following. Let's just talk about the resident manager. Lilia Torres. She's a liar; telling outright lies about herself, the apartments, the tenants and maintenance. She's a gossip and stirs up trouble between tenants. She lacks management skills, communication skills, and the understanding of the English language. She does not know how to truly respect and have compassion for the tenants of the building, creating a hostile building environment. Watch your back. I'm sure she's talking behind it. If she doesn't like you she does everything to get you out. She admits this. I'm sure if ""Statewide Enterprises"" (which is the company that runs this place) knew, she would be fired in the spot for taking their money. more

Run as fast as you can!! All the previous reviews are still correct. This place is a dump! I haven't been here a year and I want to move out! The Landlord does not speak English and she has her family and their families all living there. She flat out said that she's in this country illegally and doesn't care. Her sister works for the same company and that's how she is working without a green card!! She lies to you about the amenities and the residents telling you that it's a great place to live. It's dirty and it stinks of urine throughout the floors. Run the other way!! this is a place ran by slumlords. more

The other reviews are still true. The cosmetic changes they make to con people into moving into this disgusting place only make it worse. They lie about how much they charge for the water and electric they waste. The manager pretends to speak English but hasn't got a clue. Okay okay is all she ever says. It's meaningless as nothing is really done. Frankly it can't as this building should be condemned. NYC landlords are princes compared to the cheating lying scum that owns this hellhole. RUN AWAY!!! more

After living there for over a year, I could not wait to get out. The lobby wreaks of urine and old trash, the apartment was literally falling apart (bathroom ceiling was collapsing) and it took weeks to fix it. And on top of that, they unjustifiably took hundreds of dollars from our safety deposit. Not worth the time, effort and frustration to live here. more

This is a terrible place. Managed by non-English speaking losers who should be deported back to the land of ugly and fat people. Residents are young and poor wannabes. Place is ugly inside and out, falling apart, cheap and it stinks. This building should be bulldozed to make the world a better place. more

This building is falling apart. They bill you for water and electric for the bldg, which they waste watering tons of landscaping and on hallway air conditioning that streams out the front and side doors, which are rarely secured. On-site management, when present, does not speak English, nor do any of the maintenance people. Repairs are slow and only cosmetic. Water leaks from the roof are only patched up every time it rains. Tenants' furniture is destroyed without compensation. Cracks line the walls and some windows won't open due to the building settling. The next big quake may be this building's last. Pros: Great location Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE more
