Awesome Sushi 5/6/2010

I love Tokyo Tavern. It is a real treat to eat there. The waitstaff are extremely friendly and they remember who you are. A couple of the waitress know exactly what I want and have it already ordered for me before I even sit down. I really love this place. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves good sushi. more

Not Bad 12/24/2008

Tokyo is not that bad. I went opening night and the owner was there and very friendly. I live right on main street, only a short 2 minute walk from the restaurant and I have eaten there many times. Sure their salad isn't going to be amazing, they are a Japanese restaurant. Every time I have eaten there the food is hot and delicious, I've never had a problem. It's not meant to be a 5 star restaurant. I don't know of any other Japanese restaurants in the area, but there are a good number of other great places for food within 5 minutes, including Stella Luna (italian) Mama Ninas (Italian pizzeria but includes a restaurant) Brooks BBQ (has been featured on Rachel Ray's show, amazing) and the Corfu diner (Greek/diner/Thai food). All very good, among others. There is also a health food store (possibly called Green Earth, haven't been there myself) right down the street which has a cafe, including many other cafes. Cons: not much parking, (within walking distance though) more

STAY AWAY TOKYO TAVERN 1/27/2008

This was the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever experienced. My dinner came with an assortment of raw vegetables that were supposed to be steamed, baby carrots from a bag, canned baby corn and raw broccoli which were all ice cold. The food was bland and to be frank, it was disgusting. I even dared to order California rolls, which was a big mistake. I couldn't believe how bad they were. On top of the horrible food, the service was even worse. We also ordered chicken teriyaki, which was served over a bed of raw onions. The salad was comprised of the hearts of ice berg lettuces with a watery ginger sauce. They couldn?t even get the Miso soup right; it had a fishy taste which was just repulsive. I am not the type to write reviews, but after the horrifying experience, I felt a responsibility to let others know how awful this establishment is. I have eaten at many Japanese restaurants and I am no neophyte to this cuisine. Please, if you read this, reconsider. One of the best places that I have eaten in Oneonta is a great bar-b-q restaurant called Brooks. I am in no way affiliated with them but while eating in the Tokyo nightmare restaurant, all I could do was wish I was at Brooks. I really hope this helps. Pros: there is nothin good to say about it Cons: there are too many bad things to list more
