I am a sushi connosseur at heart - I still believe that the best sushi in Northern California can be found in the bay area - notably San Francisco. That said, I was in the area and decided to try out Tokyo Fros for lunch with my business associates. Tokyo Fros is tucked away from the rest of the plaza. Upon entering Tokyo Fros, it seemed to carry a very modern, artsy appearance that is reminiscent of an art gallery. However, the experience was not worth reminiscing. While waiting patiently for a table, we find that the restaurant had a distinctive smell. We were served by one sole waiter, who happened to be working the bar at the same time. We ordered the standard fare - sushi of course - the house specialties. Upon receiving the sushi, we noticed that the sushi is commonplace - e.g. sushi you would find at Bel-Air/Safeway. The sushi was wrapped with way too much rice than the good stuff (maguro, unagi, soft shell crab, etc) In addition, the fish was not fresh, it was a bit warm. The service of the waiter was terrible - we had to ask for water, plates, napkins, etc. Right after we received our food, we heard a loud SNEEZE from a chef at the sushi bar - I wonder who got that dirty sushi - after all sushi is raw. When we were done, the waiter gave the check, didn't say a word, and left back to the bar. The prices for the sushi are ASTRONOMICAL for what you receive in terms of quantity, quality, preparation, and taste. After all, Tokyo Fros left me with a bad taste - putting a dent in my wallet as well as disappointing my business associates.
You call this Japanese food? Tokyo Fros puts this to shame (in a very disgusting way). Parking is difficult as well!
Pros: Artsy ambience and a strange smell - if your into those kind of things
Cons: Bad Parking, Lousy Location, Terrible Service, Terrible Food, Terrible Everything
