This wedding photography couple goes above and beyond what would ever be expected of them as your vendor. They completely blew us away in our first meeting. What impressed me was how organized they are. This was perfect for a super-planner bride like myself. For example, they save your wedding photos in various forms so that they will never, ever be lost. This was a relief for us to hear as different photographers lost my parents and sister-in-laws wedding pictures forever. On top of excelling at their normal duties, the pair also serves as your wedding day "go-to" people. They tie pew bows, straighten out aisle runners, help line up family members, etc. In short, they know ever in and out of every wedding and encourage and support your individual needs. Their relationship extends beyond the wedding too. They gave us advice on our honeymoon trip, and to this day I text them wanting to order more photos without them batting an eye. As you can tell, when going with Todd Hugen Photography, you aren't just getting a wedding photographer. This was by far the best value for your buck you could get anywhere in Iowa. We highly recommend Todd Hugen Photography. I was looking for amazing photographers and quality customer service and I believe I found that in Todd and his lovely assistant/wife Peggy. From the beginning they were flexible and easy to work with. We had fun getting to know them and felt very comfortable around them on the day of the wedding. They provided us with over 800 images and it was difficult to select the ones for our album. There were so many great ones! more

My husband and I live in Maryland and were getting married in Iowa where I grew up, and finding a good photographer was one of THE most important things to me. After scouring a ton of websites and interviewing 4 photographers in person, we decided to work with Todd and Peggy. They were a great pair with easygoing, fun personalities, and they had by far the nicest album product that we saw. Our experience was top notch all along. Todd and Peggy were very flexible about packages, were willing to include/swap out items, and they were just all around fun to work with. On the wedding day, Peggy helped keep things rolling right along and get my very large family rounded up for the ever-important family picture. Everyone was amazed with how well the picture turned out. Todd managed to get a large group (36 people) shot with no eyes closed or funny faces, and everyone can be clearly seen. Our pictures overall were wonderful...almost zero editing required, and there are so many wonderful ones it was truly a struggle to pick which ones to put in our albums! Speaking of the albums, as I mentioned before, the bridal albums Todd makes are a beautiful product and I have had nothing but compliments on mine. It is a hard cover album with a very sturdy binding that opens flat and has sturdy pages, and the best part - every single inch is covered in your photos. Flowers and detail shots for backgrounds and the cover, etc. Wonderful. Overall, Todd and Peggy were wonderful to work with (my whole family has commented on how nice they were to work with, and how many pictures they got of the wedding and reception without being obtrusive), and the final product is wonderful. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding photographer in the central Iowa area (although I'm pretty sure they travel, too). :-) more

We interviewed multiple wedding photographers in the central Iowa area and Todd & Peggy were the best. They have excellent portfolios, will show you samples of their products, and are very flexible w/their packages. They will also work around your busy schedule and do whatever it takes to accomodate you. They also have a fast turn-around and you'll see your proofs online. They'll shoot whatever style you want and have a great eye for what will look fabulous! I highly recommend them because we had a great experience! more

My wife and I live in Austin, TX but were married in Ames, so we faced with the unique challenge of shopping for and interacting with a wedding photographer over long distance. Both our parents, who live in Ames, visited Todd and Peggy on our behalf and were instantly won over by their professionalism, creativity, product quality, and friendly, down-to-earth demeanor. My fiance (at the time) and I were convinced, and we met Todd and Peggy for the first time a month or two later when we had our engagement session. We found our parents' comments to be true: Todd and Peggy were very friendly, intelligent, and gifted, and they worked efficiently. Todd took the photographs while Peggy scouted locations, poses, angles, lighting, etc. Were extremely pleased with our engagement photos! When we returned to Ames for our wedding, Todd and Peggy brought an extra person to shoot candids, which turned out to be some of our favorite photos from the whole wedding! Todd and Peggy kept us moving and on schedule throughout the day; really, I think we would have been lost without their guidance and expertise! And they not only took all the formal shots, but they also brainstormed to create a lot of fun, unique shots that really added to the beauty and enjoyment of our day--from the pre-event photos all the way through the reception. Afterwards, they were very patient and helpful with us as we attempted to identify our favorite photos and review our albums online. Living so far away, we corresponded with Todd and Peggy entirely by email, and we gave their website (very well designed and easy to use, btw) a good workout. When all was said and done, we received our printed albums very quickly and we are extremely pleased with the final product. Todd and Peggy were a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process, and their professionalism and creativity have provided us with troves and troves of great memories from our wedding day. I cannot recommend them highly enough! more
