Best Irish food in Philly 3/2/2010

We had so many great meals in Ireland and have been so disappointed by many supposedly Irish restaurants in Philly. (Chicken parmesan, cheesesteaks, where's the Irish food on these menus?) But Tir Na Nog is the closest we've gotten so far. The cottage pie and shepherd's pie are as good as what we had in Dublin. The atmosphere is terrific, too. Great place to have a Guinness with friends and relax. Suggestion for the Tir Na Nog chef: Put some boxy on your menu. Not one single Irish restaurant in Philly has good boxty (crepe-like dishes with savory fillings). You're missing a great chance to shine even more! Pros: food; atmosphere Cons: needs more Irish delicacies on the menu more

One Stop Shopping 2/19/2006

My favorite stop any day of the week. You WILL NOT find better service elsewhere in this city. The staff is attentive and prompt. I never have to ask twice for anything here. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is electric. The location is choice for the quick and needie before you have to hit the train home at Suburban Station. Why go anywhere else? Pros: Exceptional Service, Food, Happy Hour Cons: Smoke, Noise more

Great Business Lunch 7/20/2005

This is one of my favorites in the city. Traditional Irish Pub fare, always fresh and well presented. I have never been disappointed with any choice. Pros: Selection, Price, Location more

SERVICE IS LACKING 3/3/2005

I went to Tir Na Nog last week to grab some food and drinks with a friend for her birthday. A couple of days later I realized that I could not find my credit card and that I could have left it there. I was obviously panicked and I just wanted to confirm that it was there so I would not have to cancel it. I called Tir Na Nog and told the girl who answered the phone what happened (who couldn't sympathize?). She told me, ""Actually, we are really busy right now. Can you call back tomorrow-day..."" and hung up. How is that for service? Pros: good after work bar, happy hour Cons: service, bad parking more
