Editorial review from Citysearch 1/11/2013

TWC....why I ask...why? Apparently this is the most supported internet service provider in NYC but it does not live up to the hype what so ever. I had to have my modem replaced over 5 times due to defections found within the circuit boards. To be most upset with, the prices are RIDICULOUS! I'm paying close to $300 for what? Cable that always freezes when flipping through on-demand channels and modems that always show defects? Not to mention horrible internet service. I'm supposebly paying for a ''20 MB upstream connection'' Hahah..no. I've ran numerous internet speed tests and my internet connection...is .21 megabytes. THAT'S NOT EVEN A WHOLE MEGABYTE IT'S FREAKIN 200 KILOBYTES. Seriously, what the hell? I'm paying $200 for 200 kilobytes? Youtube videos don't buffer at all, download speeds are 15-20 kilobytes, this is just stupid. I also forgot to mention that's the speed for an ETHERNET connection....WiFi..even worse... 100 Kilobyte connection speeds, NOTHING LOADS, but sure I called numerous times and customer service can't do a god damn thing right? TimeWarnerCable...fix your god damn service before I go over there and steal back the thousands of dollars you ripped me off since day 1! more

POS Service! 7/8/2011

I suspect that the Rats of NYC get better service when scavenging for food in unsuspecting restaurants, unfortunately for me the service with TWC is undependable, unreliable, every other week I have a problem with this lacking and unacceptable service. My toilet is more dependable!! Beware! Don't be a victim of Time Warner Cable aka Timeless Waste o' Crap! more

Worst Service Possible 3/26/2011

Worst service possible. Hard to believe that the people who run this company still have a job when they provide horrific service and zero possible customer service. I""ll be switching as soon as possible. more

Horrible! 2/1/2011

Horrible! Cancel if you can! Run! Unfortunately there is no Fios available in my area... I am just WAITING for FIOS to come to Hell's Kitchen. It seems as though I'll be without cable access for a week b/c that's the earliest their technician can come out. Better yet, don't wait for Fios. Find one of those free internet tv sites and use those! more

Time Warner is Horrendous! 6/18/2010

Time Warner Cable is the absolute worst company I have ever had to deal with (I would switch to another company but unfortunately have no choice in my area). There are outages every single WEEK in my area. I would say every 3 days I do not have cable and/or internet service. Oh, and you cannot call to schedule an appointment for an issue that is unrelated to the outage - and if you have already taken off from work to be home for a technician, the automated service will call you and cancel it at the last minute! Also, twice I took off from work and techs did not even bother to show up! 90% of the customer service reps who answer the phone are hostile and blatantly rude. This company treats its customers like garbage and has the WORST service! Stay away if you are lucky enough be in an area where you can choose an another provider! RUN from Time Warner! Pros: Absolutely NONE! Cons: Everything - service, tech support, customer service more

the wonders of private enterprise 11/18/2009

TWC provided a non-existent service (the wi-fi worked sporadically at best, and then just stopped working all together) and then went on billing for it months after my first attempt to cancel. It's a wonder that conservatives can go on selling the myth of the wonders of private enterprise. Pros: it's just a bad company. period more

What you should know about Time Warner Cable 11/5/2009

I have been a loyal customer of Time Warner Cable (TWC) in excess of five years. Additionally, I was a telephone/fiber optic technician for six years. I mention these things only so that you might trust me when I say that TWC could not care less about quality picture or customer service. Their ineptitude is rivaled only by their indifference to your plight. They are fully aware that they hold near autocratic authority in various areas of Greater NYC, and this power has enabled them to hold their customers in contempt. Where else can you go? If your service cuts out, and you decide to switch to another provider you still have to wait for the new installation…which could be two weeks in and of itself.\r My recent adventure with TWC was particularly harrowing. I lost service on Monday. After an interminable wait for a human to answer the phone, the customer support representative did try and reboot the system. After the failed attempt, he scheduled me for an appointment that would occur anywhere between 2:00pm and 6:00pm. Now having some experience in the business I made sure to ask the rep to note on the system my call. On Tuesday, I called and confirmed my appointment at 1:40pm saying that I was at home and would remain there until service arrived. At 5:40pm I received a call from TWC (thank you caller ID) and picked up on the second ring, where the other side promptly hung up on me. The technician apparently was trying to cancel my appointment and blame me for being unresponsive. I immediately called back and said that I was home and not to cancel the appointment. They never showed. Now pay attention folks. When you cover your actions as I had, they have no choice but to give you ONE FREE YEAR of a premium channel of your choice. They then promised to be over Wednesday and that they were sorry for the inconvenience. When I informed them that I work for a living and would have to take the day off from work to accommodate them, they offered me an appointment for 10 days later. Guess what people, I took the day off, called and confirmed the appointment 15 minutes before the time window and waited. When no one showed up this time, they then reimbursed me ONE MONTH of cable service. I know I’m ranting now, so let me just say that the third time it happened (in a row) I was reimbursed ONE MONTH of ALL SERVICES (Cable, Telephone, & Internet). I had to take a third day off (tomorrow) and with any luck they’ll fail to show. I hear the next thing they give is stock options.\r Pros: They inspire you to write about them. Cons: You won't have anything nice to say. more

Easily the worst customer service available 10/29/2009

I wish I could give zero stars to Time Warner Cable. They are the only company I'm actively rooting to fail. I want it to be a miserable failure, just like their service. In the 20+ times I've had the misfortune of dealing with Time Warner Cable over the last 4 or 5 years, I have never dealt with an employee that I felt was competent, or cared about the work they were doing. To top it all of, the service routinely fails, and the options are to wait a week for a representative to show up hours late to their scheduled appointment, or to lug the massive cable box to one of the gates of hell [the Time Warner Cable store.] I've got exactly one month before I can ditch their service and get something more reliable, and it couldn't come soon enough. Pros: The cable box has some weight to it Cons: It's all dead weight more

Yes, have to agree with the all of the terrible reviews 9/28/2009

TWC of NYC is the absolute worst cable service provier I have ever chosen for either my home or my business. Horrible signal availability, rude and inept customer service all at an exorbitant price. Pray that a comparable competitior comes along. Pros: I wish I could give a -5 rating more

the worst! 8/22/2009

Time-Warner Cable unfortunately has a monoply on cable service in large areas of Manhattan--a perfect illustration of why monoplies are illegal most places. There are customer service is horrible. They are sarcastic, they contradict each other, and they constantly disconnect the customers. In the final irony, after my seventh phone call today, I received an automatic callback for a customer service survey. Guess what? It didn't work either. Pros: absolutely none Cons: horrible service, constant contradictions more

Avoid it if you can 8/21/2009

The service is just absolutely terrible. For TV, I already switched to satellite (happily), but am still stuck with their internet access. While the product is good, the service is nothing short of terrible. more

Worst service ever 1/17/2009

TWC is the worst cable provider in the country, bar none. I have internet and cable from them, which is super expensive ($120 bucks for basic channels, HBO and internet). Plus, it is very rare that I go through an entire week without having some major issue with the On-Demand or internet. Since I work 80-100 hrs a week, there is very little time that I am actually home. It is so disappointing that when I'm finally home, the internet is out and I can't order anything on HBO.\r \r Worthless Company. Just plain terrible. Pros: None. Cons: Everything. more

time warner is horrible 1/5/2009

Time warner is without a doubt the most incompetent cable organization in the northeast. Use them only as a last resort. Worst service quality of any organization I've dealt with in 50 years. Pros: good picture quality if you ever get it Cons: worst service of any cable provider in the country more

Terrible company 11/28/2008

I made an installation appointment with them for early in the morning to get it out of the way. They showed up 5 hours AFTER the window of time they game me (8am-12pm) was over to finally install my cable, internet, and phone line. I had to cancel appointments and plans I had made later in the day. Really annoying. On top of that the cable and internet never seems to work correctly. The internet is extremely slow and when I am paying for highspeed internet, that is not ok. I wouldn't even use this service if I had an option. No other company services my area. Cons: Pretty much everything more

Wonderful if they show up 11/16/2005

My first appointment was cancelled without notice after a technician had called to ask if i was home. Finally, when they arrived the next day the technician brought the wrong cable box forcing me to either trek down to 23rd street or take a 3rd day off of work to wait for another technician to deliver the correct box. Also they train their techs to reset your homepage to the timewarner startup page. Keep it on google thank you. If you live in Manhattan and can't get RCN not much you can do. more
