Very typical of the ubiquitous strip mall haven of Alpharetta, Tijuana Joe's is a decent happy-hour/casual dining destination, though not necessarily unique or outstanding as far as Tex-Mex joints go. A typical dinnertime trip to TJ's will find thirty-something groups of friends laughing and joking while sipping on margaritas out on the patio, while families will be eating inside the appropriately decored restaurant, along with some stragglers at the bar. Food is fairly decent, pretty typical of quality and variety found at most area Tex-Mex joints. Lately I've been displaying my penchant for being cheap by sticking with the same item - the Tuesday night $7 chicken fajita special, which is adequate. However, assuming the churrasco uruguayo (Argentine-style steak) and the Mexican paella are of the quality served up by their sister store in Alpharetta, they're worth trying here, as well. All the usual suspects - tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, quesadillas, soups and salads, etc. - are also on the menu.\r

Service and drinks are exceptional here. The staff is very prompt and friendly, with only a token gringo or two on the staff. Good variety and quality of margaritas, and the same can be said for beers on tap. However, I recently made the mistake of drinking one of the specials, a $4 raspberry martini. Lots of alcohol, but just not very tasty. Perhaps ordering a martini here is akin to ordering prime rib at Golden Corral.\r

Overall, Tijuana Joe's is a standard Tex-Mex joint in the Atlanta area - decent food, good atmosphere to drink and chat with amigos. Also, team trivia on Tuesday nights (check out triviawithpatrickdotcom) is a must-do, as well.
Pros: Good drinks, tasty food, efficient service
