The tides obviously gets its reputation from the view that it offers. I've been to the tides on three occasions and each time the food was just inedible. I mean, how do you screw up a baked potato. It was yellow and looked like it had been baked all day and brought out for my special occasion. The haddock was overly breaded and the bun was gianormous. The tartar sauce had a terrible flavor (not sure what the heck was mixed in with those half pickle pieces). The waitress was absentee and abrasive with other customers nearby who were not happy with their meals. It took longer to get the check than it did to choke down what we could of the meal. Oh and the lobster roll - don't get me wrong, there was a generous portion of red meat on the roll (which was unfortunately soggy) but it certainly didnt taste like lobster. It looked like the meat that comes from mini crab legs and was very dry and chewy.
Pros: Looking for a restaurant with a view...
Cons: Everything else - the food is terrible, the service is poor
