TIa's is a nice place but completely overrated. not worth the time or the money

Worst Service in Boston 7/3/2011

The worse service in Boston! On a hot 4th of July weekend we went for an early dinner at Tia’s with the hopes to have a nice Seafood dinner. We opted to wait for inside seating for a cooler option and were asked to wait. Waiting for a table for two wasn’t a big deal until we realized that people that came after us are being seated. 15 minutes later we complain and are asked to sit at the bar while we wait, we politely refuse as we would like to sit at a table for dinner. The staff promised to get us a table for two as soon as they can. This is course leads to us getting a table next to a party of 8, at a broken table near the kitchen which holds 4, when a perfectly good table by the window with a view of the bay for two is being given to a couple who just walked in. Huh??? I immediately asked to be moved to something that wasn’t broken and was told no; that was all they could do. Excuse me, what about the three tables’s pushed together for a table of six? I asked for one of those and was refused, then was told I could wait for another free table if I didn’t like it. Almost 30 minutes later we still have yet to be seated and the manager on duty Chris was rude and refused to give us a table. We left after an exchange of words and will never be back to this restaurant. more

Great Party 5/16/2011

I came here last weekend for my friends Bridal Shower and it was a great party. We were against poor weather, but the set up was gorgeuos! I will be reccomending Tia's to all my friends for parties and large groups. It was cold so we were sitting outside under heaters, it was more than comfortable. The service and food was outstanding. Our waitresses were very attentive and all smiles! The bartender also made great bloody marys. All around it was a great party! more

best patio 5/10/2011

I am so glad that Tia's is open for the summer. You will find me on their patio all summer long. I have always meet friends hear after work because the have such a large patio, with great views. This is defiantly the place to be when the weather is nice. Last week we came to Tia's a for dinner and it was awesome. I Usually just hang out at the bar, but I will be back for dinner for sure. I had heard they have the best baked stuffed lobster in town and that is true. It is the best ia have had and I have lived in New England my whole life. In the past I have always recommended Tia's for their bar, I also want to recommend Tia's for lunch/dinner.. Try the baked stuffed lobster you'll love it! more

Best place for after work drinks!! 3/30/2011

I can't wait for Tia's to open for the season! After a long cold snowy winter I am looking forward to having dinner and drinks on their patio! Me and my friends always meet here for drinks after work. The place gets packed but it is worth it! Me and my boyfriend also come here for dinner and are never disapointed with the meal or service. I can see why Tia's has been so popular in Boston for such a long time! more

SEASON IS APPROACHING!! 3/29/2011

It has to be that time of year......Red Sox and Tia's!.......2 of my favorite things come spring/summer......you know the weather is turning toward the better once these 2 get rolling.......opening day for sox is April 8th, then just a week later is the opening day for Tia's on the 14th........can't wait for the boneless buffies, a few beers, and the outdoor scene on the patio......bring on the sun! more

GREAT seafood! 7/12/2010

I've lived in Boston for a few years now and this HAS to be the largest outdoor patio I've seen! And the food was awesome! Boston itself is expensive but the quality is great for what you're paying for. And their lobster menu? cant beat it...they go from a single 1 lb to a baked stuffed! Service and staff are friendly and outgoing and are pretty helpful with suggestions. the bar seems packed at night, but seems like a chill nightlife scene...will definitely be back and recommending Pros: fantastic food, great view, on the water! Cons: no substitutions, crowded bar more

Eight weeks til opening, but whose counting 2/25/2010

After a LONG, COLD winter there are only 8 weeks before we can get to the waterfront and enjoy Tia's again. Can't wait to sit outside and enjoy a cocktail while eating some great food. My taste buds are craving a baked stuffed lobster. Welcome Back Tia's for another season. Pros: outdoors after a long miserable winter...great food Cons: that it is closed for 5 months more

Always looking forward to the summer because of it. 1/19/2010

Every summer I look forward to going into the city and having dinner at Tia's. The food there is fantastic (extremely delicious I might add) and the service is great. From the moment you walk in, the hostess greets you with a smile and the waiters are very attentive. I've made sure that any friend or family member that comes to visit me, goes to Tia's and tries out their delicious food. So far, none of them have had anything bad to say about it except that I made a great choice in bringing them there. Definitely can't wait for this winter season to end so I can go back there! Pros: Service, food, and the view Cons: I live far from it. more

i don't forget it exists...... 1/19/2010

every year at this time, i get thru the bitter cold winter with the thought that Tia's is only 3 months from re-opening......it's nice to have the option to sit outside or inside, get great service, enjoy the many options of food, and definate people watch.....the crowd is dressed nice and makes you want to mingle......i find it fun to be in a restaurant that is busy and has a great bar scene, so you get the best of both worlds. Pros: service, view, cocktails, food, atmosphere Cons: no drawbacks more

great food, great palce to meet people 1/19/2010

For many years my friends and I have been going to the bar at Tia's, mostly because "it's the place to be". Come April ,what is better than a drink ouside by the water. A few years ago my friends and I decided to check out the restaurant. We always thought that it was a "bar". We had dinner outside on the dining room side, away from the busy bar. To our surprise, the meal was amazing. We started out with the incredible buffalo wings. They were the best we ever had. For dinner we had a seafood sizzler, twin lobster special and the salmon. The food was so delicious we were trying figure out when our next trip back would be. My friends and I were all in agreement that the restaurant at Tia's is a hidden gem. People always think of Tia's as one of the best bars in Boston............you have to try the dining room. You will not leave disappointed. I can't wait for April for them to re-open!!!!!! Pros: great social scene, food is aamazing Cons: haven't found one yet more

I forget it exists... 1/13/2010

which speaks volumes to my experiences there. Boston is so rich with options, and I love the waterfront. However, as most of Boston can offer you places on the waterfront, there really is nothing special about Tia's that makes me want to come back. I have tried the after work drink crowd, and where I can agree with the people watching, I find it weird that no one integrates with each other. People watching is one thing, but I like to mingle, and socialize. If I wanted to only people watch, I could go sit at a restaurant or watch reality television. I have tried their menu for lunch - and the prices for New England food are just too much for only an average meal. I believe Tia's gets a lot of hype for its location, but in all reality it is too far from most of the Boston nightlife that makes going out on the town worth it. Pros: its on the water Cons: same old same old more

I have been to Tia's on many occassions and have never had a bad experience. It is a great place for a nice dinner or to enjoy drinks with friends. I have found both the bar staff as well as the wait staff to be extremely friendly and provide get service. I am a huge fan of the Twin Lobster Special. Overall Tia's is a great place!!!! Pros: Good drinks, Friendly staff more

Great Atmosphere, Fabulous Service 9/23/2008

After dining at Tia's I couldn't wait to share my experience with the world, ok maybe just Boston. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing this amazing restaurant for the first time. I had always heard stories about Tia's and how fabulous the location is, and how it's a great after work place to go but never really appreciated all the stories I'd heard until I saw for myself. I visited Tia's late in July with my boyfirend, it was a great night so we sat outside. The hostess was great and freindly. Our server, Toby, was truely amazing. She recommended that we have the boneless buffalo wings to start, which I loved and so did my boyfriend! Then I had the baked stuffed lobster, no other can compare to this! And my boyfriend had the seafood sizzler which he also raved about. After dinner we walked over to the outdoor (bar area) patio, it was very busy and a fun place to spend our evening. We went into the City for a night on the town and got it all at one place...... Tia's! Now I know what I have been missing and the stories I heard were absolutely true. So if you're looking for a great atmosphere, waterfront view, great service, good music, and fun than I recommend Tia's! more

Cool atmosphere 9/22/2008

I have been to Tia's about 4 times. The first time was 5 years ago when I was interning with WEEI and doing promotions. Since then I have been to Tia's a few more times and have enjoyed myself. Living and working outside of Boston, I am not in Boston as often as I would like as it is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. It seems like every time I go into Boston, whether it is for a girl?s night out, a play, or an afternoon shopping spree in the city, Tia's always ends up being part of my trip. I never anticipate it, but I always end up there enjoying a nice frozen drink with my friends to end my day before leaving the city. I just wanted to let you know that the atmosphere and welcoming staff make every trip I make to the city an enjoyable one!!! Keep up the good work!!! Pros: Atmosphere more

Great experience 9/22/2008

I went to tia's the other night for dinner and drinks, the food was so amazing we sat out on the patio, and had a bunch of apps, that were so good. I recommend the spinach dip. The service was also really good, our server was jen, and she was just so pleasent. I would recommend this place to everyone i know more

If you haven't been, it's a must! If you have, you're probably a regular! 5/28/2008

I absolutely LOVE Tia's. It's great during the day and it has an amazing night life as well. The atmosphere is fantastic and it's an excellent place to meet people. Also, the staff is very friendly and the food there is great. The seafood is especially good because it's so fresh. I may even say it's Legal Seafood's competition! Definitely check it out if you haven't yet... more

Tia's 4/16/2008

Tia's is known so well as a bar that the great food is often overlooked. We heard that it is a great scene on sunny afternoons, and that's why we went. We were having such a great time that we decided to stay for dinner and had some of the best seafood we've eaten anywhere. This is REALLY a great place to hang out on the waterfront on a warm day or evening, and a great place for a casual lunch or dinner. Pros: Great scene, great food, great service Cons: Indoor portion of the bar can get crowded more

Cant wait for afternoons on Tia's patio 4/7/2008

I cant wait for tia's to open back up. When Tia's opens up thats a sure sign that spring is here. I go there almost every thursday or friday afternoon for a few drinks and food. The place is usually busy when the weather is nice, its always a good crowd too. Try to get thier somewhat early on nicer days. If you're going to have food you have to try the calamari! Should only be another week or so before spring is here, aka Tia's opens up. Pros: patio, crowd, food, service, atmosphere Cons: gets crowded early more
