I'll make this brief. I'm an army iraq vet that is looking to get into a career in law enforcement. I started working for Thomas Protective in July of 2008. I worked as an armed security officer at the Bloomington, IL Pilot travel center, a high-crime area. During my tenure of employment, my co-worker and I stopped several crimes in progress and our efforts led to two Pilot employees getting fired for shoplifting. We did our best to do our jobs for 11.00 ph. (I only made 10 ph instead of the promised 11) Bottom line: our paychecks were frequently two to three days late. We had to pay for uniforms out of pocket and our requisitons for uniforms and equipment were ignored. The company did not supply me with the adequate credentials I needed to carry a firearm in a security capacity in IL and would not do anything to remedy this, despite several complaints and emails I sent over the course of six months. They asked me to knowingly violate the law or work unarmed in a dangerous area. When I refused, I was fired. Needless to say, I won the unemployment claim. Don't work for this company!!!! They do not give a rat's ass about their employees!
