Beautiful View, Beautiful Wine, Awesome Food! 6/23/2006

Thirst is a much-needed addition to the Portland waterfront. I have gone to Thirst Wine Bar many times and have had fun & knowledgeable service, very tasty food, and their wine list has the best Pacific NW wines in the city! I always get their crab dip and they recently changed their bruscetta and it is to die for! They have really cute outdoor tables as well. It's a fun, cute and good place. Pros: View, Wines, Food Cons: Parking more

Go here to drink, not to eat. 6/12/2006

I have been to ""thirst wine bar"" about 5 times since it first opened. Their wine selection was good, the food menu was simple, but tasty, and I was really looking forward to it being a place that I could frequent for after work Drinks, light dinner and the occasional party. \r \r The past three times I've been there- although the service and wine menu have been consistent, The food menu is constantly changing, and tastes worse every time I go in. On one occasion, the ""Vegetable soup"" was nothing more then broth and crispy celery. On another occasion, my bread on my sandwich was extremely stale and very bland. I keep giving this place another chance, but I think i'm done making exuses for them.\r \r Last time i went there it took over 45 minutes to get a small entree, and when i got it, it was so bland, I didn't even care to finish it. I don't think i will be frequenting this place again, and would not reccomend it to anyone.\r \r I really hope this place gets with it quick, because it has a lot of potential. Pros: Great Wine List, Good Service Cons: Don not eat here. more

Great Wine Bar 4/27/2006

Everything you want in a wine bar and more. Not stuffy, it's down-to-earth and has a great selection of flights. Wonderful selection of NW wines - the best in the city. The actual bar is cool; it's made out of wine barrel staves. Not trendy and the prices are very reasonable. more

Favorite new bar in town 4/3/2006

We've been twice we enjoyed it so much. Loved the waterfront location, trendy decor, excellent wine selection and great food. Perfect for weekend lounging or after work get togethers. A unique atmosphere you won't find at other wine bars in Portland - bar made from french oak wine barrels, cheese tasting menu and multiple wine tasting options (tastes, glasses, flights and bottles). Finally the waterfront is picking up! Pros: Location, wine selection, Atmosphere more

Thirst is what Portland has been missing 3/27/2006

We've been twice we were so impressed. This isn't an ordinary wine bar - the owners have created a unique, chic and comfortable bar and restaurant. Perfect spot for after work with friends or as a start to a romantic evening. So many things you won't find elsewhere - bar created from French oak wine barrels, hard to find NW wines, extensive cheese tasting menu, river view/outdoor seating, experienced staff and a great full food menu. Pros: Atmosphere, Location, value more

what a nice place to enjoy the waterfront 3/12/2006

I loved Thirst. The food was great, and the wine selection was awesome. The bar is actually made of old french oak wine barrels, and it adds a unique look to the wine bar. The staff was very friendly. The people there seem enthusiastic about their business. I had a great time sipping a glass of pinot noir while watching the waterfront. Pros: the view, variety of wine more

Wine bar above the rest 3/7/2006

There are a lot of wine bars in the Portland area, and to me they all seem about the same. I was very surprised when I walked into ""Thirst."" It has a very nice atmosphere, and the wine list is amazing. I loved to look at all the regional wines, and the staff was very knowledgeable. I had a ""pizzette"" that was so good. If you are into different cheeses with your wine, they have a wide selection of unique cheeses. If you thought like me that the ""wine bar"" thing in Portland was over-rated, think again after a trip to Thirst. Pros: regional wines, great food, unique cheese more

Finally - the perfect Wine Bar! 3/5/2006

Have lived in Portland for over 6 years and have been looking for a wine bar with relaxed atmosphere, cheese selection, wine flights, and good food - not to mention, a great location. We have finally found it in Thirst! Lucked out and found their website just after they opened and spent a perfect Sunday afternoon. We tried everything and were pleasantly surprised. The wireless internet works flawlessly. Can't wait for Spring to really enjoy the location along with everything else. Plan to make this our Sunday afternoon relaxation spot. Pros: Atmosphere, Wine, Food more
