Best

I would like to think my family knows good food, we've been to several of the best (consensus) restaurants in the country i.e. Babbo, 21 Club, Gramercy Tavern in NYC. Having said...

Worst

I ate here recently and was very disappointed with the food - the supposed prawn appetizer came with a bed of mashed potato and 3 prawns. The seared scallops came on a bed of mash...

A nice spot 7/9/2003

This was a great place to go for a quaint anniversary. The food was very good, prices were reasonable and the service was simple & honest. A great break from the bigger names in Seattle. The Ahi Tuna Tartar appetizer is highly recommended, as is the Black Cod entree. more

Fantastic! 2/24/2003

This is a great place if you are looking for an upscale romantic dinner. We got the taster menu which was absolutely fantastic. Our waiter was amazing but be careful if you ask them to recommend a wine..check the price before you order! Also, if you are looking for something a little cheaper, sit in the bar during happy hour and get gourmet appetizers for half price! Highly recommended but plan on shelling out a couple ben franklins for a nice dinner and a bottle of wine. Well worth it for those special occasions. Pros: Excellent Food, Excellent View, Excellent Service Cons: Expensive more

Loved it!! 2/15/2003

My husband and I went there for the first time on Valentine's day and tried their valentine's day tasting menu for $50 a person--it was incredible. Great menu items, amazing flavors, good portions (except the Bisque), and very tasty desserts, especially the creme brule. A bit pricy, but we had a booth with a view of lake washington, so it was expected. Will definitely return for special occasions. Pros: great service, great atmosphere, excellent quality Cons: prices more

overpriced and overrated 2/1/2003

I ate here recently and was very disappointed with the food - the supposed prawn appetizer came with a bed of mashed potato and 3 prawns. The seared scallops came on a bed of mashed root vegetables - the scallops were not very fresh . There was not a single fresh garnish, salad or green vegetable. $150 (excluding drinks) for 3 adults for chain restaurant quality food. The setting with a view of lake washington is nice but there was too many business dinners going on to class it as a romantic restaurant. Pros: view Cons: chain quality, overpriced more

Fair food at an unfair price 1/18/2003

I often see raves for this place, and come back every couple of years (usually for a business dinner). Thing is, despite trying a variety of entrees and appetizers, the quality of the food has never justified the high prices. Try Anthony's Homeport next door, which has comparable (or better) meals for half the price (though the ambiance isn't quite as nice). Or make sure to get a 2-for-1 deal from an Entertainment-style card (KPLU membercard includes this place). Pros: Nice view, Good service Cons: Mediocre food, High prices more

oops, they didn't do it again! 1/9/2003

we used to dine at the fish cafe often, and enjoyed it very much. on a recent christmas visit, it seemed to have dropped in quality. bland flavors, uninteresting food and an overall feeling that nobody cared. they have the perfect venue to dazzle and i wasn't even dizzled. the memorable meals are now forgetful. the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great, but something is missing........maybe creativity?!! just go for dessert....... it's fantastic. Pros: view Cons: lackluster more

Melt In Your Mouth Steak 11/8/2002

We recently went to the Third Floor Fish Cafe with friends for a combination anniversary/birthday dinner celebration. As a steak lover, I ordered the Chairman's Reserve 16 oz. New York steak. It was the tenderest, most flavorful steak I've ever eaten. I heartly recommend it. The others also enjoyed their meals and the special birthday recognition (complete with sparklers) that we received from the staff. It's a beautiful restaurant with a great view and a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. Pros: great food, view, friendly staff more

Blown away in Kirkland 10/23/2002

I am a business woman and I entertain clients at business dinners 3-4 times per week. I recently took a group of 10 to the Fish Cafe and was absolutely blown away by the food and service. They had no problem accommodating a group of our size and our servers knowledge about fine wines and foods was quite impressive. Our server was very respectful of the business we needed to conduct and timed our food and wine service perfectly. Needless to say, my clients were blown away by their dining experience. I recently booked a corporate function with a different restaurant and was horrified by the incompetent service and lackluster food. I will definitely be booking all my corporate function with the Fish Cafe in the future!! They really know how to take care of today's business people!! Thanks Fish Cafe!! Pros: good for large groups more

A Little Pricey 10/19/2002

Downtown Kirkland......View of Lake Washington......Very Good Food......Equals......High Prices. The Third Floor is a great place, but if you're looking for an equally great meal at a more reasonable price.......there are plenty of great restaurants in the area that offer it. Again, great place, but you're paying for the setting. Pros: view, food Cons: price more
