Scandinavian Breakfasts 11/9/2008

The best place we've found so far for breakfast on the north shore of Lake Superior, right on Highway 61 of Bob Dylan fame. You can run all day on plate-sized blueberry pancakes that are made with a generous grating of fresh nutmeg, but I wished for real maple syrup. Swedish pancakes with lingonberries are the real deal here too. A good buy, considering you'll have to skip lunch and half of dinner after eating breakfast here. more

Yum! 4/4/2007

I used to stop at the Vanilla Bean whenever I'd make a trip up the shore - even just to buy a loaf of their delicious oatmeal bread. Every visit was wonderful - great service, great food - a much better experience than some more famous establishments up the road. The breakfasts are huge and the dinner specials have flair for being in a small town. My favorite place in Two Harbors! more

  • Jan and Paul Bergman welcome you to Vanilla Bean Cafe.  We've been providing a welcoming atmosphere, fun menu and great service since 1998.  Stop in soon to Experience the Flavor!  Breakfast specialties include our plate-size, oven-baked omelets, Swedish pancakes with lingonberries, wild rice porridge, as well as more familiar breakfast favorites.  Breakfast is served daily until 11:30 a.m.  Lunch specialties include our award-winning soups, salads and fun, fresh-made sandwiches.  We are your North Shore destination for fresh, local, seasonal FISH!  We offer pan-fried walleye and fresh-netted herring (in season).  At dinner we also offer White Fish, Rainbow Trout, Salmon and Lake Trout (in season).  You won't want to miss our famous, award-winning signature dessert - caramel-pecan bread pudding with burnt sugar caramel sauce.  We serve fresh brewed, custom-roasted coffee, espresso drinks, wine by the glass and bottled beer. Exhibits by local artists are featured year around in our Gallery Dining Room.  We also offer a nice selection of books, note cards, CDs and pottery by local artisans.
