Don't trust the Improv deals 8/13/2008

My wife and I signed up for the full Paula Poundstone dinner and show. The promise was for 2 additional tickets (""with restrictions"") within the next 8 weeks. When we called to see if a certain show qualified, the folks at Tempe Improv said Yes. This was for a low volume Thursday night. So we showed up and they said, No, they'd changed their minds and we weren't allowed in. We were not the only couple who showed up on that night - there was a couple in front of us and a couple two entries back in line in the same situation. The shows in the next few weeks were ""special events"" which didnt qualify for tickets so we and the others were SOL. No apologies, no nothing from the Improv. Cons: These guys are businessmen. more

Relatives for Thanksgiving Holiday 11/24/2007

My sons asked for a night at the comedy club when coming to visit for the Thanksgiving weekend. So, the end of October, tickets were secured. According to policy, must arrive at least 45 min early for the 10PM show to secure your assigned seat. Seats are assigned in order of ticket purchase. We followed all the "stated" policies. Arrived an hour early and are told table # 61 front row. The Boys are sooo excited! But, upon entering the theater there are people at our table, when ask how and why this occurred? We are told "they know people at the club", so we are ushered to the back. Show was good, food ok, drinks expensive, but violation of their own written policy set the stage for a less than enjoyable evening. So,,, If you know someone at the club that will violate the policy of seating -- GO AND ENJOY!!!! more

Laugh It Up at Tempe Improv! 8/20/2005

The Tempe Improv is a great place to laugh your stress away! Check out their calendar for many comedians from D.L. Hughley to local laugh masters! The Improv offers a dinner menu too for those who want to grab a bite to eat. more

A great time! 8/12/2005

We love going to the Tempe Improv. The local comedians (usually opening acts) steal the show in my opinion! It is definitely worth it to make reservations for dinner, because you get a nice dinner AND you get to sit up front...VERY fun! Plus the later shows tend to get REAL crowded. more

Good comedy club! 6/8/2005

We did go there once to see a comedy show, which was excellent.I do agree that it is too smoky though and and the tables and chairs are too close together. The service was good though and the employees were nice. The other thing that would not be good for everyone is that you have to go up a steep staircase to get to the entrance and if someone has bad knees or other problems with stairs,it would not work out very well. more

Too smokey 6/7/2005

While I enjoy going to this club for the comedians I hate walking out smellin like an ash tray. It's also sorta cramped inside. It could use a remodel more

The Tempe Improv is a recommended night out for some good laughs. I am always amazed how quick the comedians are and how they can create a whole skit out of a couple of lines. Amazing. more

Make 'em laugh, make 'em lauch 8/14/2002

You know what they say about laughter is the best medicine, right? Take advantage of this advice and head to the Tempe Improv. Buy a t-shirt, and use it to get in free (non special engagements) on Thursday nights. Make a standing date with a group of friends. You can plan on meeting there for dinner and enjoy the show! You can't beat that combination. I take my sisters there, when they visit from out of town. They love it! Pros: cheap, fun, reliable Cons: food can be so so, special engagements more
