It's a great place 10/14/2008

This is a great place for a home-made pastry and a good cup of tea or coffee. They carry locally produced raw milk (when they're not sold out) and it's one of the few places where you can find proper British biscuits(cookies). In season, the pumpkin-and-ginger whoopee pies are to die for, and the cheese Danish are always nice. Just because the ambience is a little "old-fashioned granola" is no reason to avoid this place. They're also one of the few shops in the Bangor area that offer free wi-fi. more

Won't be in here again. 2/23/2008

Fine selection of coffee, but that's about as far as it gets. I was unimpressed by the clutter and general cleanliness of the shop. When I went to the counter to pay for a coffee, the woman there ignored me for a few minutes while she kept on talking about what appeared to be local gossip with someone else at the counter. I felt more like an inconvenience than anything else. Next time I'm in Orono you'd get better service at Dunkin' Donuts and I don't think you'd have to worry about the possibility of a roach being in your coffee or danish. Seemed more of a hippie college kid hangout. more

This friendly natural food store in the heart of downtown Orono carries a wide selection of natural goods and fresh baked items for the health conscious. Downstairs they have a great gift shop where they stock Maine authors and stories. There is a wonderful selection of cards, unique jewelry, clothing, and toys. You can also find many beads for your own jewelry making experience. more

The Store and Ampersand 10/13/2005

The Store and Ampersand is a unique shop near the University of Maine. The top floor is a coffee shop and natural foods store. The downstairs is a cute little boutique featuring gifts, jewelry, clothing, books and greeting cards. There is something for everyone when they come here to browse. It is refreshing to find something different than the run of the mill gift shops. more
