A pet project of a wealthy bay-area business man, the Stanford Theater harkens back to the golden age of film, and of movie stars -- when acting meant something. It exclusively specializes in "old movies" scheduling marathons of rotating subjects -- one week it may be Betty Davis, the next Cary Grant. If you dig old black and white movies, and want to see them on the big screen as they were intended, this is your chance to relax, grab some popcorn, and enjoy. Intermission (yes intermission) is still heralded by a live pipe organ, and the heavy red curtains that hide the screen when not in use lend to the lavishness of the entire experience. A true movie-connoisseurs theater! Call to find out what's playing now! It’s currently undergoing renovation and expansion. (Re-opens 6-Aug-05)
