# 1 Hangout in Carrboro 1/26/2011

If you have come to Carrboro hopefully it is by foot or bike. Make sure to stop by the Speakeasy at Tyler's after 8PM throughout the week for pool and fine choice beverages, with their excellent selection. The staff is very friendly and will allow you to relax, if you behave. They don't allow for bad attitudes or negative energy, so leave it outside in the street. Don't forget to try out the food at Tyler's if you are having doubts, as you won't be disappointed by the flavors or vibes in Downtown Carrboro. Don't order sweet tea from the bar or you'll cause more work for the bartender. more

One of the cooler chill bars in chapel hill. Can get busy but what bar doesn't in a college town? I've always had a good time there more

a diverse pub 4/30/2007

It's rare to find such a place like the Speakeasy in what is general considered a 'college town'. The clientele is almost as diverse as it's beer selection, which usually features 12-15 different kinds on tap and probably about a hundred more in bottles. \r \r If you are looking for recreation while you booze, look no further, as three pool tables, a foosball table, video golf, and video bowling are there for your entertainment. \r \r The digital jukebox has thousands of songs from all walks of life and if you just feel like chilling out, there are plenty of couches in the backroom. Local music is also featured at least once a week. \r \r It is very soccer friendly as a lot of the staff support EPL clubs and usually has Fox Soccer Channel on in the backroom for soccer nuts like myself. \r \r Food is available whenever serving in the adjacent restaurant, Tyler's. The only negative is that it can be smoky at times, but if it starts to bother you, you can always go next store to Tyler's, which is smoke free. Cheers. Pros: Beer selection, comfy, soccer friendly, plenty of recreation, diverse crowd Cons: Smoky at times more

Great place to slip away 4/26/2003

for awhile. This place can tend to be crowded on the weekends, but there is ample room to move around. There are three pool tables in the front and a small bar area. In the back are numerous couches and big comfy chairs to kick back and relax in and enjoy a good conversation, cold drink, and an unhealthy cigarette (or three). The crowd is diverse. There are college students, but more of the more interesting ones. The is a good hipster crowd here as well. There are a great number of different beers on tap which is nice too. This is a great place off the beaten path for drinks, conversation, and mingling. Pros: Atmosphere, Crowd, Back-room seating Cons: Too smokey for some more

A Great Local... 4/24/2003

A great local hangout. Quiet right after work where you can sit with co-workers or friends in the couch room for a nice drink after work. Later in the night, good crowd, relaxed atmosphere. Couch room is great for private parties. Speakeasy also has great live music from blues to bluegrass! And they have Grolsch pop-top bottles!!! Pros: access to Tyler's, atmosphere, couch room! Cons: parking during games more

Loud Fun 1/8/2003

Pros: great food, friendly staff, good bar, lighting just right, always a good crowd. Cons: a bit loud, parking can be a problem in the summer. Conclusions: Not the best place for a romantic dinner, but great to meet friends and family for drinks and yummies. more
