The only ding on The Restaurant in the Hotel Setai is the price. I went with my friends Warren and Ilana. The restaurant was still pretty empty when we arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday night - it was packed when we left at 9:30.
The decor is funky and contemporary. The menu is extensive and complex (pacific fusion). You can't help but notice the prices ($15 for "Nan", $50 for a "White Pizza with Truffles"). The wine list is extensive and the somellier was particularly focused on selling us very expensive wines by the glass (we passed).
The food was tremendous. Indian, chinese, and thai fusion, all beautifully prepared, fresh, and delicious. At some point we forgot that we were about to massively overpay for the meal as we settled in to an endless taste treat. Every single dish was good.
We were stuffed when the dessert menu arrived so we didn't even bother. We figured the damage was done and we were ready for it. $385 for three people with minimal alcohol (one glass of wine for Warren; Evian for me and Ilana). We didn't flinch, paid up, and left very happy.
