Great theatre 9/17/2005

if you want a change from the normal friday night movie, the sooner theatre is the place to go. They have great live productions and sometimes have special showings of independent films. I love the historical aspect of this theatre and highly recommend looking into it. This is a great place to catch a play or an independent film. more

  • Built in 1929, The Sooner Theatre of Norman, located in Norman's downtown historic arts district is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The theatre's beautiful Spanish Gothic architecture, designed by Harold Gimeno, creates the perfect intimate setting that creates a completely unique experience, whether the audience is enjoying a musical theatre production, concert by a nationally touring group or special event. The Sooner Theatre is also available for rent. The Studio of the Sooner Theatre offers dozens of theater arts classes for young performers in grades pre-K-12 including: acting musical theater, improve, theatre dance, tap dance instruction with Robert L. Reed, musical theatre production classes, and much more. Special master classes are offered throughout the year to help students hone their skills.
