Avoid this restaurant 7/14/2007

There wre four of us and our meals were horrible. The waiter was a "low talker" and we could not understand him. Also the two wines we ordered were not available. The prices are too expensive - we even had to pay for bread. The portions were fine, but the taste was terrible. I would rather have smaller portions with good taste. Several of us had been there some time ago and remembered it being good, but we will not be returning. It was Saturday night and only two tables were filled which should have given us a clue when we walked in. We will not be returning to Roasted Garlic. Pros: Good parking Cons: Food taste horrible. Waiter not properly trained and whispered. more

Worst experience ever 2/18/2007

This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The server got our order wrong, didn't notify us of menu items not being available until after we placed the order, brought out burnt appetizers, brought the entrees in batches instead of all together, and the management didn't even handle the situation properly. She never let us know she was the manager, even though she had brought us our entrees after the appetizer problem. The tomato sauce on the "John's Pork" tasted like canned diced tomatoes mixed with sugar. The "Masseri Chicken" had an interesting fig pesto, but the chicken and ravioli was as bland as water. When we sent the pork back, the manager had the nerve to roll her eyes at us! We were never rude to her or the server in any way. Then they brought us a lousy ugly piece of cheesecake (Sara Lee would have been better) when we had made it clear we just wanted to leave. At the end of the ordeal they still tried to charge us for an appetizer we never ordered! The only positive to this experience was the singer that was hired for the night. His Sinatra style singing was excellent. All in all, stay away from The Roasted Garlic. I recommend any other kind of Italian restaurant over this place (anything has to be better than this place was). As far as the Greek portion of the menu, it's non-existent. Burnt spanikopita doesn't count. more

Very disappointed 1/13/2006

I was so disappointed with my experience at the Roasted Garlic seeing that this place had been recommended. The food was absolutely terrible. We ordered the bread and roasted garlic at our servers suggestion. The bread had grill marks on it but was cold. I'll bet it had been marked hours earlier. When we asked to send it back our server turned ugly. The evening was down hill from there. The portions are ridiculously large! The Roasted Garlic should consider using less food and adding more flavor. Servers need some training. Definetly overpriced for the quality. Cons: too expensive, poor food quality, bad service more

Impressed 4/4/2004

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we were very impressed. The food was outstanding! We ordered the Pernice and the duck special. Portions so incredibly huge that a "to go box" should automatically come with every order. Smart idea, especially on the Pernice, would be to split this with someone special and pay the upcharge for an extra plate. The bruschetta with roasted garlic & tomatoes on ciabatta was refreshing - not too heavy! The food is a little more complex than "true" Italian cooking but divine nonetheless. Nice selections on the kid's menu as well. The service was prompt and friendly. Our order was timely and accurate. We are looking forward to our next visit and plan to take guests. Pros: Reasonably Priced, Food, Service more

The ANTI-Olive Garden -- REAL Italian! 7/30/2003

We had 20 people for an office lunch and NOBODY finished their huge plates of food -- the appetizers we all split (excellent salads and bread with roasted garlic) were very filling and enough for a meal, and the serving sizes for the entrees were HUGE. The vegetables, cheese and sauce were fresh and I'd recommend it to anyone! Pros: All fresh ingredients, Knowledgeable staff, Lots of food for $ Cons: No steaks on the menu, Undergoing renovation more

Rollitiniiiiiiiiis Pleassssse 6/10/2003

The "Elaine's Rollitini" here is unbelievable. I was at the Dunwoody location last night and I got the Elaine's for the first time and I was in cloud nine!! My favorite stuffed pizza dish ever! more

A Must Try! 3/5/2003

My experience at the Roasted Garlic was incredible! I took my girlfriend here for a date and it was the highlight of our evening! The service was quite nice, and the food was superb! And it was all for a reasonable price! Whenever anyone asks me for a nice place to have dinner, my first response is always the Roasted Garlic! Pros: Food, Service more

delicious and efficient 2/20/2003

I had valentine's reservations;lucky for me!! We arrived and was seated immediately. It was so pleasant. We enjoyed the best food and cordial service. The hostess was so sweet; providing me a beautiful long stem rose on our way out. Thanks for a wonderful evening. The owners have recently expanded to 2 other "garlics". It's worth a visit. more

Seconds? I can't finish the firsts! 2/10/2003

A nice, family-run restaurant in an otherwise uninviting strip mall, the Roasted Garlic has a fantastic selection of main courses that are guaranteed to fill you up and satisfy every region of your palette. They also have a great selection of Tapas, and a very decent wine list. Pros: Great Menu, Lots of parking Cons: too small more

Light-hearted and fun. 2/5/2003

I went to The Roasted Garlic last night on the suggestion of this site. It was a great experience. I think what made it truly so was the bartender, Billy. He was fun, attentive and personable. He made good recommendations from the menu. more

Great Spot for Dinner Out 12/27/2002

This is one of the best restraunts I've been too. The food is great and reletively inexpensive, and the portions are huge! I recomend sharing if you don't like a lot of leftovers. It's a great spot for dinner with your friends, since everyone can afford it. And the garlic bread.... there are just no words! Pros: delicious food, huge portions, great prices more

Home Style Italian at its best 12/23/2002

After my first visit to the the Roasted Garlic, now known as "The Garlic" by all my friends, I became a walking advertisment for the restaurant. Great food, reasonably priced, and service that makes you feel at home. If someone asks for a great place to go for dinner, I always send them to "The Garlic". more

Noisy Sophistication 11/24/2002

Bright , loud and crowded, the Roasted Garlic is a suburban extraneous point. A complicated menu, hustle and bustle of waiters and waitresses alike, the restaurant exudes suburban power in a Mediterranean atmosphere. The portions are large. The food was good. (The sausage sides could have more punch.) To a certain extent quantity might prevail over quality. However, overall, an impressive first experience. Note for the romantic: This is not a place for a quiet date. Pros: Crowd, staff Cons: Sausage, crowded more

The Best 11/20/2002

This is the best Italian restaurant in the Alpharetta area. The staff is very knowledgable in the dinner menu and the wine list. My favorite is the Chicken Norma! My children loved the Fettucine Alfredo. They treat you like family there. Cons: seating can be crowde more

Best little family resturant in town 10/3/2002

Fun and Delicious 9/15/2002

If you're looking for a quiet, romantic place to have dinner on a Saturday night, this definately is NOT the place. However, if you're looking for some great italian food and a good time, this place is one of the best north of the perimeter. Be sure to make reservations in advance, as I had to wait about 70 minutes for a table. Even that was no sweat, though, because my party sat at the bar, enjoyed a glass of wine and ate a delicious plate of garlic bread. There are too many delicious things on the menu to list here, but my date had the sausage meatballs and pasta, which was incredible. more

Garlic breath is heavenly! 8/18/2002

The menu selection is wonderful and you shouldn't have a problem finding something you like because everything is absolutely delicious. Very busy on weekends - reservations a must! Pros: fresh, fresh food, selections, wines Cons: long waits more
