Best

I love it here. This is definitely one of my favorite Hollywood spots and I try to frequent the club with friends as much as possible! This is really a great spot...you just need ...

Worst

The view is great. That's what this place definately has going for it. The service is slow and not all that great. Problem is the crowd. There's a ton of tourists and the rest are...

Staff Stole from our room, hotel did nothing 9/24/2006

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! My husband and I stayed at the Standard for a long weekend in August 2006. We chose the hotel because it was the last hotel in that location with a room less than $900 per night. The first morning, I left the room at 8am and returned at 6pm to find that a necklace with 3 large diamonds in my jewelry case at the bottom of my closed suitcase was gone--along with a purse and another necklace. The hotel did virtually nothing, except file an insurance claim which was denied because "the staff said they didn't take anything." Of course they said that, they are criminals. If you must stay here, then don't bring anything of value with you! Pros: Central Location Cons: My husband's out $10K after the staff stole my necklace more

best place to chill 9/21/2006

I would go every Friday night to have fun and enjoy the nightlife and be with my husband and true love Wesley Jonathan. It would be a night to remember. I Love L.A. Pros: Valet parking is the best and the atmosphere is glorious Cons: n/a more

Rude employees! 9/14/2006

My friend from Switzerland (where the hotels and clubs know how to treat guests) was staying at the Standard this week. The attitude of the help was so horrible and rude that he left to stay at the Grafton next door instead! The Standard is OVER-RATED and low class! Cons: Lame and rude employees that think they are more important than the guests! more

cool day and night 9/10/2006

went here to lay by the pool with a bunch of friends on sunny afternoon and had such a good time we decided to come back later that night for some after-dark fun! great drinks, crowd, no problem getting in- this place has fixed what has been going wrong with the la bar scene lately! more

Fairly Good Food Conveniently Located 9/8/2006

Brunch is pretty good, and it's always nice to have snacks by the pool. I live within walking distance though - I probably wouldn't go out of my way for the experience. more

What's With The Wierd Smell??? 8/7/2006

The staff is not friendly at all. The air conditioner was either fridged cold or off...no in between. Worst of all, there was a HORRIBLE smell throughout the hotel. Definitely NOT worth the price. Next time I'll stay at the Hyatt which is less than one block away. more

Not so luxurious. sorta meh... 7/25/2006

We had to wait quite a while each time we wanted to get the car out of valet. also, it was _really_ noisy up until 2:15am on friday and saturday night, even though we were 4 floors away from the rooftop bar. We had breakfast in the diner, and we sat waiting for someone to take our order for over 30 minutes.... in an EMPTY restaurant. the manager eventually noticed that there was no staff, she took our order, and she apologized. blah food and not enough staff. i won't be returning. more

Rudy's Barber Shop... 7/11/2006

One of the best barber shops that I've ever been to in the city of Los Angeles for getting a haircut that I would highly suggest to anyone in the city. more

what can i say but: That's HOT. 6/18/2006

honestly i think the crowd is better on the weekdays and another bonus is that there is no cover on these nights! it can be a strange mix of hipsters & traveling business men. great place to bring a lot of friends though. i recently had an awesome bday party here...it's fun to dance underneath the stars and honestly, the views of downtown are so amazing. you have to see it at least once. never had a boring night here. cool place to take non-LA guests, guarranteed to impress and unless they have a private party, you can almost definitely get in here unlike other LA hotspots. it has the hollywood vibe without having to deal with the gridlock on sunset blvd. to sober up, you can go to the 24hour diner in the lobby below. go to the lobby's bathroom and right outside is an oldschool photobooth. we have to take pix here everytime we go to remember the night out...and it's only 2 bucks! Pros: most impressive bar atmosphere ever Cons: can get kinda cold, crowd is hit or miss more

Cool Place to Hang Out 5/13/2006

My girfriend and I went to the Standard a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night. The valet boys were cute, but the guests weren't. Take a jacket because it can get pretty cold, unless you're going to dance the entire night. Service is extremely slow. more

A lot of pro's and con's... 4/13/2006

I must say my girlfriend and I were shocked when we arrived. We had no idea what we were getting into. I felt like I walked straight into an Austin Powers movie. Anyway, the valet and the front desk guy was rude. The room did smell and the walls were paper thin. But after a day to adjust we actually liked the place. Views are great, food is great...and great service in the diner too! Awesome little Mexican place across the street, best burrito ever! Oh and check out the lounge! Pros: Location, Price, Food in Diner Cons: Rude Staff, Smelly, Expensive drinks more

Once is more than enough 3/25/2006

As soon as we exited the elevator, the Micky Mouse music was an immediate indication the club was going to suck. The $20 cover and $8 choice of 4 beers is enough for me not to return. The view is good for about 10 minutes. If you happen to be staying in the hotel, the club is free. Pros: view, different, unique Cons: expensive, bad music, boring more

Hipster Hangout 3/22/2006

Great spot, if you can get a seat next to the heat lamps. Food is excellent, service is a bit snotty. more

High in the Sky 2/8/2006

Interesting place downtown. Good drinks, great vibe - Servers remind me a bit of Austin Powers Femmebots, but good service. Love the outdoors and the pool. more

  • The all-American diner gets an L.A. makeover at this hotel haunt where beaded curtains replace blinds and hard liquor spikes milk and coffee. Not unlike many a hungover guest, this 24-hour trendoid mecca is ghostly during daylight. But things heat up at night when runway-model waitresses serve hungry clubgoers international comfort food like Croque Monsieur, a French-style grilled cheese with ham and Gruyere on rustic bread. Burgers come with skin-on shoestring fries while ahi tuna tartare and butternut squash soup are other belly fillers for after-hours food fiends looking to sober up.
