Disappointment in Rainbow 6/16/2008

My wife and I were excited to stay at the Rainbow Inn, the draw of a library, a deck, beautiful sunsets, and pool 'privacy' for us and any friends that visited us on our last few days in the states before we went on an extended trip was hard to pass up. Admittedly, they delivered on most everything, the sunsets were beautiful, for the most part the property was very nice to be around, and the breakfast was pretty good (save the peaches on the second day, half of which we couldn't used because they were bruised, and the Welch's yogurt snacks were not so good either, just opinion). However our 'private' deck (apparently flush with their bedroom, during a pseudo-late night [11:30pm] conversation with two friends they flashed the lights off and on, I assume to rush us downstairs) and then later the same night my friends and my bride stepped outside of the main room to indulge in a bad habit and within a few minutes one of the owners was downstairs and told us that it would be probably be best if our guests left, I asked him politely if we were keeping him up and apologized for any inconvenience, and he went on to say that in 'in the scope of us being guests' (hardly guests, we paid 140$ a night to be there) and serving one couple at a time (which is untrue, as there is a queen bed and one twin) that our two friends should leave and we should 'call it night', needless to say, I was made aware of the lack of privacy sometimes offered at the Rainbow Inn, and having your 'host' act like your father during a middle-school slumber party is not only offensive but also very un-accommodating, the rest of our stay was slightly tense. The next day my wife tried to speak with him, explaining why we felt the liberty to stay up late and talk with our friends (we were more than encouraged to have people over, and sound restriction was never mentioned, although we kept quiet regardless), the owners Scott and Donna seemed confused by our polite response to their rude intervention. more
