I meet regularly with friends at the Prolific Oven and even though they have won awards, I have yet to find any baked good they make that I like. The cake is too soft and the frosting is too hard to be very enjoyable, and the cookies are relatively flavorless (but I'm sure they have all the calories!). However, the mocha is really good, and they are really comfortable allowing groups to congregate and enjoy themselves as long as they want. more

Because if he could, I would eat at the Prolific Oven every day. Not only do they offer an impressive array of cakes but they sell pastries as well. Prices used to be more reasonable but have increased in the last few years. They also offer sndwiches at lunch and a full coffee car. The hot chocolate is TO DIE FOR! more

best bakery in palo alto 8/15/2005

this is the best local bakery in palo alto, which is very clear from the tremendous number of cakes and desserts they move each day. their cakes are famous in palo alto and the greater surrounding area. it's also a great place to study although it gets very busy around lunch time. their coffee drinks are very good, especially their mochas - very chocolatey. there are also two outside tables. their lunch food is served from 11-3 each day except for sunday and their salads are huge. more
