Portland's Saturday Market is an exciting festival of individuality, cultures and art where you can find almost anything and everything goes! Open on weekends from March to Dec 24 artists of all styles and mediums gather together stretching out for blocks throughout downtown Portland to sell their creative design and talent. Disappointing 1/15/2006

I’m not sure where Portland’s Saturday Market gets its good reputation. I find it dull and dirty compared to other similar weekend artist markets that I’ve seen. The location beneath the highway is depressing and even though there’s some good entertainment there, the design of the stages is lacking. Food is overpriced and there’s not much selection. more

Gift Shopping 1/11/2006

The Saturday Market is an excellent place to buy a gift for the person who has everything. All of the products sold there are unique as artists create them. It is also a fun place to shop as it tantalizes your senses with the sounds of music and smells of foods. I do all of my Christmas shopping there for out of town relatives as I know that they will not receive the same thing from someone else! more

A fun walk 10/4/2005

I love coming here even when I don't really need or want anything in particular (which is usually the case). There are all forms of artwork, most of which are very creative. My favorites are the photography work and the various types of lamps. There's also a lot of ceramic work, glass work, wood and metals. You name it. Oh, and clothes as well. This place is a must if you need to find a gift for someone but have no idea what to get them. Even if you end up not getting anything, I think you'll come away with ideas as the booths here carry such a diverse array of products. Overall, I think it just makes for a good, fun stroll. more

Something For Everyone! 9/21/2005

The Portland Saturday Market (open on Sunday as well) definitely has something for everyone. They have live music, lots of vendors selling anything you can imagine, and two wonderful food courts. You can walk around for hours looking at all the handcrafted items for sale. If you are looking for a gift for that hard-to-buy-for person; you have come to the right place! Wear comfortable shoes and bring cash, because most transactions are made in cash only. (Most vendors do not have credit/debit machines set up.) Plan to have lunch there. You will definitely want to after smelling all the delicious food! more

Spend a day! Spend some Cash! 9/9/2005

Oh! What a great outside bazzar of every imaginable thing possible to buy. Are you in the mood for hand-crafted soap? How about furniture made by local artisans? Not in the mood for that? Then there are at least 10,000,000 other things that will tickle your fancy at this market that, despite its name, is not just held on Saturdays, but Sundays as well under the Bridge. Take cash--not everyone has a card machine. Mingle with tourists and locals alike. Just when you think you've seen it all, you turn a corner for another block of stalls and tents. Don't forget about the food court, where the most heavenly aromas fill the air and your nostrils and make you want a little bit of everything Go, have fun, and take cash and a bag to carry back all of your goodies in! more

Fun place 8/30/2005

Saturday Market is a true Portland landmark, I've never seen anything like this anywhere else. There's a lot of different stores around, that sells clothes, books, and other sometimes weird things. There's also some good food and drinks such as smoothies and even gyro's sometimes. With all of this, there is also music which can either be good sounding or downright awful. Saturday Market is fun to go, just be careful of pickpockets and thieves, they like the crowds more

Saturday Market 8/24/2005

This place is great. They have all kinds of vendors with not only clothes but unique items and candles. They also have food booths so you can eat while you shop. Its right along the riverside so you can go and stroll down along the river after you are done shopping. The only bad thing about this, is that you have to be careful about the people around you. Watch your things carefully. Its located right along the max line (public transportation) so you can ride that instead of driving down town. I just love this place. more

Saturday Market 8/19/2005

An outdoor and sizable handicrafts market located under a bridge in Old Town (one of Portland's problem areas), this is essentially a collection of vendors with various trinkets, along with a handful selling foodstuffs such as hamburgers and hot dogs. For this sort of thing it's OK, but don't be expecting anything like a farmer's market, let alone Seattle's Pike Market. more

Distinctly Portland 8/17/2005

Operating in the summer in downtown Portland, this market has a distinctly Portland feel. You can purchase crafts, clothes and food from the local artisans. Enjoy music from nearly every street corner and watch the different people Portland has to offer. Easy to access with the Max Transportation system, it’s fun for the whole family. more
