people complain about nothing ha 3/12/2012

if the prices are too high, look over the menu, and decide that the place isn't for your budget and politely leave. i order an omelette every time i go in and am always shocked at how big they are. good food takes time people. i have no problem waiting for food.. you can see the servers are busy, they aren't just standing around. when i go to a restaurant i know i'm going to half to wait for food, thats part of the restaurant experience. if it were bk, it would be a different story. the only thing keeping it from being a 5 star restaurant is that the soda's only come with one refill. that's not common practice for fountain drinks. and to the one reviewer: if the child threw a fork at you, why wouldnt you let their parent know? what makes it the job of the worker? clearly he/she had nothing to do with it lol grow up and stop nit-picking :) more

Server was very rude 9/6/2011

the service was awful- the server was incredibly rude and would not reasonably attempt to accommodate my restricted diet. She barked that it was policy that no menu items could be altered and didn't offer a solution so I didn't get any food. I sat and watched my friend eat. The server slapped the bill on the table when I said I wasn't going to order anything and never came back. I will never go there again. I advise anyone with a dairy allergy or vegan diet to avoid this place altogether. more

This place stinks 7/8/2011

If I could give this placed o stars at all I would. The food is ok, but the atmosphere of children running wild and throwing silverware at other patrons was appalling. I got hit with a fork and when I complained management told me that it was ""no big deal, What do you want us to do? We can't tell them anything."" Sorry - but unruly children are not the only people in the world and others have the right to go to dinner and not be assaulted. I will be telling everyone who will listen NOT to darken this place's doors. I hope that they grow a spine and learn to make everyone welcome not just out of control families. more

Best breakfast ever!!!! 3/7/2011

These negative reviews don't share the overall experience of the restaurant. I go there once a week and its always good. Everything is made from scratch and love the fresh strawberry crepes. Yes it is more expensive than normal, but you get what you pay for. Too big a portions? Ask for 1/2 orders, it'll be a few bucks cheaper. As far as the oj being too small, its fresh squeezed right in the back of the store!! Too many people are used to these oversized drinks you get places. Don't be a pig!! They're old fashioned and use old fashioned 6, 8 and 12 oz glasses. Fish fry on friday is amazing and they have a new gluten free menu. Plus, you go in after 4 and kids eat free off the kids menu with one adult meal ordered. This is an amazing restaurant. Those of you who complain about slow service, was it busy? I've been there a couple times when it was insanely busy, and had to wait longer than normal for a server to come over. Just be patient. Its worth the wait. Its usually not the server's fault if they are stretched to the limit. That's one thing I do notice is that one server will handle 10-20 tables at a time. If it gets busy, they can't get to everyone in a timely fashion because they might not have enough staff. At night I see the server bussing, hosting, and serving all by herself. If the manager wouldn't be so cheap and have enough help for her it would definately pay off!!!! more

WORST restaurant in Buffalo 6/30/2009

My wife and I went to the Original Pancake House this morning. We had one lousy experience with their branch on Niagara Falls Blvd (the food was not cooked well), but we would like to give it a try in this one on Main Street, Williamsville. We were very wrong. It was a even BIGGER mistake. On our way in, we were 2nd in line for a seat. Then we saw a very strange thing - two young people left 2 dollars on the table without even touching their silverware, and walked away. I thought maybe they were in a hurry of something. Later, we were seated, and our orders taken. We kept on waiting for another 20 minutes. No food, no refill of our drinks, and the waitresses never showed up to explain why. While we were waiting, I noticed something. The African American couple sitting near us is the only other table that was not served with food. All the white people, even the ones that came later than us, even those who sat down 10 minutes after we did, got food. Not only did they get food, but they were constantly visited by their waitresses for drink refills and whatnot. Only two tables of ""colored"" people are ignored. We were very upset, and decided to leave. We could not find our waitress. We could not find anyone in the front counter. It rained very hard outside, and we were kind of hungry, but we left anyway. This restaurant is the WORST I have ever been to. I do not suggest they are racists, but I think they did a very poor job taking care ALL the customers. I will let all my friends know that it has such a poor service and lousy attitude. I will NEVER go there again. Pros: Nothing. Cons: Poor Service more

Hair! Hair! Hair and, poor customer service! 8/10/2008

I recently visited the pancake house with my 3 children We have been going there for years even though we have had other bad food instances (hair, dead insects in drinks) This visits bottom line, hair in childs choc chip pancakes resulting in throwing up, spoiling everyone else's appetite after we rec our overpriced food. Now her clothes are stained which, cost more than the 7.25 they SHOULD have refunded. Customer beware! The manager didn't even have the nerve to come and speak with me personally. It was very unprofessional. more

Great for Dinner 10/2/2006

Sure theres a wait when people go for breakfast on Sunday morning, but for years my family and I have gone here for dinner on Mother's day, there's absolutely no wait! My favorite thing would have to be the Apple Pancake..... or the Mushroom Omlette. Pros: GREAT food, GREAT service, pretty empty for dinner Cons: Just don't try to go for breakfast on Mothers day. more

All the way from Texas! 12/13/2005

We come to the Buffalo area once a year and have to stop here for their Dutch Baby, Crepes and Omelettes. Wish we had one in Houston. Pros: Great food, Great Coffee, Easy Parking Cons: Chairs are not comfor, Service a little slow more

Ignore the negative reviews 5/31/2004

This is the best breakfast in town. No one makes a better omelet, and it is gigantic. (Why do some reviewers criticize portions that are too big? There is no rule that says you have to finish.) Everything else is of high quality. Expect long waits at peak times. I will agree that this place is pricy for breakfast, but you get what you pay for. Go to Denny's if you want to save money. more

inflated and over rated 1/30/2003

Big deal expensive pan cakes, what is so special about them? absolutely nothing. Big pancake big price yawn....... more

What a treat 1/25/2003

A little bit on the expensive side. You will not, however, leave hungry. Tip - Share an Apple Pancake with your dining companion. Trust me, it will make you forget your middle name! Pros: portions, variety, food quality Cons: crowded, parking-Main St. only more

great breakfast 1/17/2003

All the items are out of this world. You have to try the strawberry waffle or the chocolate chip pancakes (you have to have milk with these babies and be prepared for the sugar high) Try the dutch baby - hope you are hungry. Pros: excellent food Cons: crowded more

Overrated & Expensive 12/6/2002

They should have stayed with one location. Since they have decided to compete with the Anderson's and grow grow grow. They have become a very average place to eat. The food at the new locations is terrible ecspecially for what you pay. The service at the new locations is even less desireable. Rethink what you have done to your reputation. more

Too much food, too much money 12/3/2002

Oversized portions, pricey. Would prefer smaller portions and decreased price. Good quality pancakes, crepes. Service could be better. Seating is close. More often than not, you must wait in line. more

Could you be less original? 10/4/2002

I understand that people like familiarity, but to the point of saying bland, overpriced and overdone portions are the ""best"" in Buffalo? more

follow the sheep 9/20/2002

way over rated, not worth the wait, the breakfast food is too big - omlettes the size of your head for 8 bucks is a lunch, not breakfast. more

Who Could Resist the Apple Pancake? 8/13/2002

I love stopping here for breakfast at least once when I come back to visit my family. It is a ""given"" on my morning breakfast stop to meet up with old friends. Pros: excellent food, no problem parking Cons: pricey, sometimes a long wait more

Yum! 8/11/2002

Awesome breakfast place! We drive up from Rochester to take my in-laws for brunch when they are in town - they always think its worth the drive! more

The Besta Breakfast 8/10/2002

The Original Pancake House is ""The Besta"" for breakfast. We have tried most of the offerings and they are all great - we have a hard time choosing. My husband likes the fresh strawberry waffles and I love the raspberry crepes. The omelets are large, fluffy and scrumptious. There is real cream for the coffee. We are so glad that they have added another restauraunt on the N. F. Boulevard. Pros: quality, worth short wait, good parking Cons: sometimes crowded more

you walk away knowing you ate very good. 8/1/2002

When you've got a craving for apple pancakes or the famous Dutch Babies. Pros: worth waiting around Cons: not for the impatient more
