Just went here last night with my hubby and I am so glad I did!! Food, ambiance and service were all great. Server did forget to bring our appetizers out at first and when we mentioned it she was very apologetic and brought them out right away and didn't charge us for them. My husband order a steak with crab mac and cheese on the side, OMG very good. I ordere dColorado lamb chops they too were good. The dessert we ordered was the tres leches cake, I have one word for it :YUM"" Try this place, I am glad we did! more

Loved it! 4/4/2009

My husband and I went in for dinner after hearing about the place for years. We arrived early so we went into the bar for a drink. It was happy hour so we ordered an appetizer, too. We decided to stay to take advantage of the happy hour deals and then have dinner. It was very comfortable in the bar and they took good care of us. We ordered the calamari and the brie and loved them both. I ordered the scallops and my husband got the buffalo steak for dinner. Both were terrific! We'll definitely go back for happy hour and maybe next time we'll try the dining room, too. Pros: Delicious flavors Cons: Closed on Sunday more

OUTSTANDING 4/2/2009

I travel all over the world and eat out often and was pleasantly surprised when a business contact met me for dinner at the old stone church. Our service was 'spot on' and non intrusive. We were told that the fish is flown in directly from Hawaii, so I tried the special Lemon Snapper with roasted red pepper mashed potatoes and avocado butter. It was memorable. My contact had a Buffalo ribeye with a chipotle sauce and loved it. We had appetizers, salads, wine but couldn't do dessert . The bill came and we were completely surprised at the affordability. Other restaurants charge much more and deliver much less. Hope to return soon. Pros: Value and variety Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Bad Experience! Don't be fooled 2/17/2009

We have been going there for the last 4 years for Valentines Day and used to like it. This year we made our annual trip and were not treated very well. We were put in a small corner on the restaurant and told our waiter we were cold, he stated ""It's not cold in here"". Dinner went on as normal. However later that night, my PREGNANT wife and I both got food poisioning. We left a message for the management and after 2 days they got back to us and said we couldn't prove it. All we wanted was our food cost reimbursed. They said no. We will no longer EVER eat there after we were treated this way. I hope they can slept at night. more

Don't be afraid 12/18/2008

I had been planning on trying this place for years but the seemingly odd Menu always scared of my campanions. Well I finally tried it and I will be be back soon and often. This is a great little place to eat really good food. First off the place is an actual remodeled church. I t is old and there have been some less than graceful modifications to turn it into a Dining hall. The negatives are that is small, the carpet is old and it was a little cold in the room, that night, The 2 top tables are small but the wait staff never let old dishes pile up so it really became a non issue for us. The Positives. The Kobe Beef was the best steak I have ever had. It was a fork tender 10"" long strip of pure heavenwith a pile of specially seasoned whipped potatoes and served with asparagus. YUM! Pros: Good value, great food and service in a unique setting Cons: looking pretty old - could use some interior work. more

Absolutely fabulous! 1/21/2008

My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and I was nothing short of impressed the entire night. We started off with shrimp enchiladas (served in white corn tortillas and a spicy chipotle cream sauce) & Cajun seared sushi grade ahi tuna with tomatoes, avocados & drizzled in lemon juice with a chipotle mayonnaise. Both appetizers were fantastic! Next, we shared the ""Old Stone Salad"" with dried cranberries, apples, Gorgonzola cheese and a delicious vinigarette. They brought us complimentary plate of Navajo flat bread with a chimichurri sauce. Very unique and delicious. For the main course, I had macadamia crusted mahi mahi with a fabulous mango cream sauce and my boyfriend had the fillet with a brown cinnamon gravy. Both dishes were absolutely flawless! We topped the night off with a cup of coffee. We were just too stuffed to try desert. On top of the entire experience, the service was wonderful! Our server was very friendly and quick to please. Ever since Saturday night I have been telling EVERYONE about this place and I am already dying to go back! If you don't like to wander the less traveled road in cuisine and you don't like spicy or unique dishes, don't bother. This place is just too good to be wasted on people like that. Pros: EVERYTHING! Cons: It is a little pricy, but it was worth it more

Fabulous Food 10/17/2007

A friend raved about the food at this restaurant, so 4 of us tried it for lunch on a recent Friday. She was so right! It was fabulous! Everyone loved their dishes. We had Caesar salad and wild mushroom soup to start. The salad had the interesting addition of roasted red peppers, which turned out to be a very tasty twist, and the soup was so good we all had to try it. I had the wild mushroom and chicken lasagna (white sauce) and it was to die for! I loved it, and will probably be hard-pressed to order anything else when I go back. Then the desserts - my favorite was the Bailey's and macadamia nut cheesecake (heavenly!) but the bread pudding was just right and the flourless chocolate cake was VERY chocolatey. We all thought it was wonderful, and it wasn't expensive! The atmosphere in the main floor dining room was nice, the service was good (not great), and the bar looked like it would be a nice place to hang out and have dinner in too. I highly recommend this restaurant! more

Wierd menu 2/20/2007

Maybe it's because it's not really my taste, but I wasn't really into the food. It's sort of an earthy southwestern menu. I had a chicken dish that was a little bit too spicy for my tastes, but my husband had a steak that was very tasty. We tried new things, but they were so wierd that I was wondering if I was on a hidden camera show--mashed potatoes with some sort of cactus gravy--tasted about as good as it sounds (yuck.) Pros: Ambience Cons: Service, wierd food more

Tough Critic 10/18/2005

The Old Stone Church has gone through some owner ship changes over the years, but as we now understand it is back in the hands of the previous owner......and welcome back indeed. We love this place, for the convenience of it's location close to our home, the exceptional food, always great service, wonderful ambience and an excellent wine list that includes ""real"" glasses. more
