Amazing! 11/30/2009

This is the best place we have had in Mount Airy yet! I would say the crab soup is amazing. I have been here 3 times. The first time we went we had the Tuna Martini which comes with a wasabi creme friache that is out of this world!!!! We also tried the Prince Edward Island Mussels, so tender and delicious! For the main dish I had the Soy Ginger Salmon. It is encrusted in sesame seeds! It came with wasabi mashed potatoes. (Can you tell I like wasabi?) The dish was amazing. Cooked to perfection! For dessert we had the Macadamia nut torte! It was delectable! The second time we went I had the Blackened Shrimp with Andouille Sausage and Tasso Ham which comes in linguine. MOUTH WATERING! The third time I went we just went for apps and drinks. I had some Cream of Crab Soup and it was fabulous! The best I have ever had! This is my new favorite place! Oh and the drink menu is extensive and the drinks are out of this world. more

Pros: great food and atmophere Cons: very busy more

Just what Mt Airy needed! 11/27/2009

We have been twice to the Tavern. First time was a Wednesday night. The place was busy but we were seated right away. We tried the Calamari and the Tuna Martini. Both were great. For dinner we had the Rockfish with garlic potatoes and the Crabcakes. Again, both were great. The second time was a Saturday afternoon. We tried a Club sandwich and a Blackened Shrimp pasta. Both were excellent. The beer and wine selection looks good. The restaurant itself is beautiful. My only criticism is the bathrooms look like they need a make-over. Overall: A+ on the food. A for the Bar. A+ for the d?cor. C for the bathrooms. Pros: Great food! Great decor! Cons: Bathrooms need a make-over. more

nice atmosphere 11/5/2009

The place does offer a lively bar crowd and a nice atmosphere. The drink prices are reasonable but the bar food was so-so. They have selected appetizers for $4.95, from 5-7pm. The calamari looked good so we decided to try it. Unfortunately, it tasted oily and we needed to ask for a side of sauce (because they only drizzle the sauce on top). Next, we had high hopes for the nachos, but they were overcooked and were topped with a small dollop of sour cream, brownish-green guacamole and salsa. The cheese was clumped onto several chips and not spread out. We also tried the sliders, which came with a postage stamp of cheese and the top of the bun was dense. To their defense, the place was busy, however, I would have been upset to pay regular price for any of these appetizers. In the future, I'll be sticking to the drinks, until they serve better food or I'll try different menu items. Pros: drink specials and TV's more
