i was a bridesmaid in a good friend's wedding recently and yes, the food was good and the decor was nice, but my friend was treated like a child and we all felt as if the director...

World Class Wedding Site 8/13/2008

5 stars all the way! My sister recently was married here. It was beautiful. The staff was amazing. She had over 200 guests and I was worried about the weather, but The Mitchell House has a beautiful covered pavillion in the garden and a covered collonade to the back patio and we didn't have to worry about the rain at all. The food was beautiful in presentation and delicious! I just wish they would share their recipes...I want a Mitchell House cook book! The cake was identicle to the picture my sister showed the staff and was moist and yummy. The florist really outdid herself. My sister forgot to order boutineres for her ushers and the florist put together 4 boutineres on the spot so the ushers didn't even know the difference. Everything was perfect! I hope I have the opportunity to go back for another event. more

awesome place 8/12/2008

my best bud just got hitched here \r it was a blast\r bit fancy 4 my tastes, but great food and real pretty 2\r the director was 2 funny...made the rehersal fun\r danny said the price was right and it made jenny happy to have the wedding there\r i dont know nothing about flowers but they were everywhere\r hope my boss will let us have our x-mas party there 2 more

FABULOUS SOUTHERN CHARM 8/12/2008

Beautiful gardens!! The front porch is nice, but when you drive by it looks plain. You HAVE to go inside and tour the house and gardens. If you don't tour it you are missing out! I loved all the little lights they put on throughout the gardens in the evening. There are many packages to choose from but I chose to plan my event custom. The planners were great and helped make sure I didn't overlook any details. They served the BEST beef tenderloin I have ever tasted! I don't know why these people are complaining about being rushed, I certainly wasn't rushed. I was DIRECTED as to the most appropriate time for us to cut the cake...before too many of our guests left. And they recommended I have my attendants check the rooms upstairs before leaving which let me know it was getting close to time. Several of my friends have been married there, and each event was unique. I was in my cousin's wedding at The Mitchell House several years ago. A lot of the staff is the same, though some have changed more

Wedding of my dreams 4/23/2008

I loved that everything could be included and I didn't have to worry about anything. I liked the fact that the wedding director and owner took the time to listen to me and the things I wanted during my planning sessions. I didn't feel at all rushed during my wedding and my bridal party didn't have any complaints as to how they weer treated - in fact, I felt that the wedding director was very diplomatic in handling my family - they can be a handful without proper supervision! I like that everything was taken care of in a timely manner and that the wedding happened exactly whne and how they said it would. The food was great - they even made tweaks to their "package menu" to accomodate some food allergies for my guests. The bartender, Barry, was a lot of fun and the entire staff made us feel very welcome and even helped us by packing up the food that was left over for my family to take home. rude to us 2/3/2008

i was a bridesmaid in a good friend's wedding recently and yes, the food was good and the decor was nice, but my friend was treated like a child and we all felt as if the director was as rude as possible to us.\r i can understand not wanting the bridal party to go over the time booked for the day, but there is NO reason to rush people and be pushy. the night of the rehearsal it started and i brushed it off thinking that they just wanted to be sure we all made my friend's day as easy as possible, but from the MINUTE we pulled up the day of the wedding, before we even go out of the car, the bride was chided for where her father parked in order to drop her off. \r i feel like it is just as important, if not more so, to make the bride and her party feel comfortable and make things easy for her on her big day. if they can't change their attitude, i will not recommend the establishment to others. more

Mitchell House and Gardens 3/16/2006

The Mitchell House and Gardens, located in Lexington is a wonderful place to have your wedding. They offer a wide variety of menus at a price you can afford. There are so many ways that you could have it decorated to make you special day (or night) what you always dreamed! The lighted pavilion is perfect for that garden wedding. Or, if you want something more intimate, the inside of the home is just as gorgeous. The food is arranged in different stations in the house. They are a full-service facility. They offer catering, full bar, wedding cake, decroations, dressing areas, etc. You can also provide some of your own things as well. The only downside I saw was that it can be a bit rushed by the staff. This is to ensure you do not exceed your time limit that you purchased. If you have purchased extra time, then that will not be a problem. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and they made our day truly special! more

A Reception to Remember 9/6/2005

The Mitchell House and Garden is a very elegant place to have a wedding reception. They are conviently located and offer a wonderful atmosphere. They can cater your event or you can have something in the Garden area. It is very spacious and your guests will feel right at home. The next time you are searching for a place for your next reception or party, consider the Mitchell House. more
