The Migrant Network Coalition was founded in April 1994 by the University of Kentucky's Southeast Center for Agricultural Health and Injury Prevention. The Migrant Network Coalition is composed of over 100 individuals from central Kentucky representing dozens of public and private organizations. Membership is free and open to anyone interested in migrant issues. The founding goals include:
Heighten awareness about existing services available to migrant farmworkers.
Avoid duplication of services.
Determine what additional services are needed.
Provide assistance in identifying funding sources for new services.
Activities include: hosting a statewide annual conference on migrant issues; and providing a forum for presentations about legal, housing, employment and health issues affecting migrant farmworkers.
Meetings are held at noon on the first Monday of every month at the Fayette County Cooperative Extension Office.
