A little something for everybody 9/9/2005

The Mercantile offers jewelry with such style, you can not find anything like it in any department store. Much of their jewelry features beautiful stones and artwork and many are complimented with matching necklaces. With a wide variety of candles and incense, there is a scent for everyone's taste. The Mercantile also offers a wide variety of clothing, as well as many other items! more

If you want to buy little trinket and gifts for your friends and family the Mercantile is the place to go. Everything they sell is at a fare price. There selection are from jewelry to lamps and clothing. You may feel like your back in the 60’s when shopping their with their items as well as the smell of incense. more

Fun to look at, nothing to buy 8/13/2005

This store is chock full of batik-incense-patchouli-wall tapestries paraphenelia. If you're not stoned and not a hippie, it won't be of much use to you. They also offer a small selection of new age type books. The only thing I liked in the store werel these mary-jane slippers that I can usually only get in Chinatown. The store itself is cramped and not enough room to move. There is also a location in downtown Northampton. more

Eclectic Store 8/9/2005

This eclectic store is hiding off the main street in downtown Amherst. They carry product lines that will tend to be associated with "hippies". They have lots of incense, batik clothing, and similar items. Crystals, dream catchers, and other new wave items are also part of the selection. Most of their clientèle seems to be college students, and people who still wish they were. Think the parking lot sale at a Phish or Grateful Dead concert crammed into a little store, and you get the idea what The Mercantile is. more
