Not up to expectations 1/28/2012

We went for our anniversary for the first time. We expected the food to be much better. We had the big night out since it was a special evening we decided to splurge. The cheese fondue was good, not over top just good. I could have done as well at home. The salad was again good but nothing special, just iceberg lettuce, fake bacon, 3 slices of tomato and dressing, again I could have done as well at home. The entree was nothing short of boiled meat...rather gross. The only way it was palatable was drowning it in some kind of sauce. Which they drove us crazy asking if we needed more sauce. Desert was so so. We had the flaming turtle. The flame part was fun. It came assorted fruit, a tiny wedge of cheesecake and 4 tiny cubes of brownie and red velvet cake. The cake and brownies tasted stale. Overall not at all what we expected for our meal that was over $80. My glass of wine was good, the atmosphere was nice, the server was nice and that's about it. No desire to return for boiled meat and veges, that we had to cook and pay way too much for. more

Great anniversary dinner 5/4/2009

We were greeted with a friendly smile, seated on time in our private booth. Waiter was on top of his game and the the food was amazing. We enjoyed the ""Big Night Out"" and left very full and happy. We will definitly be back to enjoy again. Pros: Service, food, atmosphere Cons: not an every weekend dinner b/c of price more

Skimpy portions 7/26/2006

Very nice atmosphere, good service, but my husband and I thought the food quality was unimpressive. We just didn't care for the flavor of the cheese fondue and found that the portion of our entrees (steak and lobster) were extremely small. The dessert tasted fantastic and had a delicious chocolate sauce, but the portions were very skimpy. For the amount of money we spent, we still left hungry. We won't be back. Pros: Very nice atmosphere, very private. Good service. Cons: Very poor value; we left still hungry. more

superb 9/24/2005

i surprised my girlfriend with red roses, and the private room in the back . she melted. We had so much fun, the food was awesome, service was incredible. Our server made ordering easy, and was always there when we needed. most of all, they have the best drinks in town. we tried the Yin and yang, a vodka & ice cream drink, unbelievable; the white choclate raspberry martini, the mintchoclatechip martini, and the choclatechip martini.....all exceptional. and they've also got a peach cosmo, that's light and refreshing, and definitely tasty, which is actually aiding in raising money for St. Judes Hospital in memphis. The experience is awesome, but the people and the owners seem to have good hearts too, they are raising money for hurricane victims, for autism research, and the fore-mention St. Judes hosptial. How can you not enjoy this experience!!!!!!! more

I suprised my husband here on our anniversary. He is the hardest man to please and he absolutely loved it! I reserved the private room. It was small, but very romantic. We have never had such fun. My husband wants to go there all the time now. The food was great and fun to cook ourselves. The service was good too. We spent about $150 with tip, but it was worth it. Highly recommend the curtained booth ( private room) keeps your romance private. Dark, romantic, fun! I would also recommend for a fun dessert treat with your older kids if you have the money... more

Over Rated 9/12/2005

This chain store much like the others is way over rated. Save your self a bad meal. Eat at a chain steaak house. The food will be fresher and cheaper. Pros: location Cons: food, drink, service more

Can you say restaurant Chain? 8/13/2005

Just like the others, its way over priced. The food was not even marginally good. Totally disappointed. At least the fast food restaurants serve it with a smile and give you change back! Pros: not a one Cons: taste, quality, service more

WONDERFUL 8/12/2005

I have been to the Melting Pot 3 times now and I have loved it every single time! It is a bit expensive, but it is well worth the money. The food is wonderful as is the experience. When you go, make sure you get the chocolate fondue! It is amazing!! They give you melted chocolate with all sorts of things to dip into it.......bananas, marshmellows, strawberries, brownies, and so much more! Pros: Fun, Tasty more

Bad VS Bad 7/27/2005

The food is boiled, Yuck. They are way overpriced for a meal that you cook your self. Dont even bother to go there. Check out all of the reviews first. As for desert, just say no, 4 pieces of fruit is not desert! Cons: Service, Taste, Quality more

not woth it 6/23/2005

over priced, poor food at best. Dank and musty smelling. Save your time and mony boil your own food at home. My wife even cook better that that. Pros: location Cons: food, cheap wine, service more

Perfect Celebration 6/18/2005

My husband and I chose Clayton location to celebrate our one year anniversary. He made a 9pm reservation and we were seated immediately. He had requested a private booth, which was in a corner w/ a heavy curtain to shield us from the restaurant. We loved it! There were half a dozen roses waiting for me (preplanned) and they were no more pricey than roses at Valentine's Day. Together we ordered the Big Night Out (Classic Feast) and devoured every single morsel of all four courses. It was fun to do it ourselves and control exactly what we were eating. We also ordered a bottle of wine for the meal. Overall, we spent (food, roses, wine & tip) about $150 but it was worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY of the check. The ambiance: perfect. Waitstaff: excellent. Food: Ill be back! (Town & Country Location) Pros: Food, Ambiance, Wait staff more

I had been hearing about this place for a while..... and let me tell you it exceeded all of our expectations!!! It was such a romantic place for my wife and I to enjoy our anniversary, she loved it. I highly recommend it for anyone. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. What else could you want? We can't wait to come in with a group of our friends!!! Pros: romantic, great food, fun more

The service was slow and the food cold. I was not impressed by the taste either. The place is nice butt not worth the price they charge. Pros: nice place Cons: , service, cost more

Romantic to say the least 7/29/2004

I search for months for the perfect romantic resturant for my husband's surprise 50th birthday. I reserved the private room and we dined upon the ""Big Night Out"" (which could feed 4 people easily). Our private room consisted of a small booth closed off by a curtain. We giggled, laughed, sipped wine, fed eachother and kissed in our privacy. Yeah, it was pricey, but was well worth the special occassion. Nothing in St. Louis can compare to the experience of the Melting Pot. And try the dark chocolate with Grand Marnier. To die for!! We dined at the Clayton location, not the Delmar. Pros: romantic, special event perfect Cons: , location hard to find more
