Wow...Outrageous prices for mediocre food/drink. 2/15/2012

The jist: Bloody Mary: $14...I have had better $4 drinks. Lunch entree: $24...Nothing special. Go to Black Angus. Parking WITH Validation: $8 If you can find a more expensive lunch in the OC, I would like to know about it. Although the service was impeccable, there was nothing special about the food or drink. I was with a group of people, and we had a variety of lunch entrees. They were not bad, but very mediocre. I understand you pay a lot for the ambience. But, save your money, go to Ruby's Shack about 4 miles up the road, and then go to Crystal Cove($15 parking). I promise you the food will be better and so will the ambience. more

Not great service, not great food 5/19/2010

I dined here last week with a friend that has gone to the restaurant for years and he really has enjoyed all of his past experiences. Unfortunately, this time our experience was not a good one. The salad was uninspired. Though The Loft is famous for the Coffee Crusted New York, our waitress talked us into another red meat dish. I had the Pork Tenderloin and my friend had a Ribeye Medallion special. Both dishes were improperly cooked, the service was less than ideal and very slow, and the restaurant was not even full. When we reluctantly spoke to the manager in the end about the quality of food and service, we were apologized to and only compensated with a small dessert and a french press of coffee. Possibly this was just an ""off"" night but a good manager could have made sure that we did not leave with a bad taste in our mouths! For the price of the meal, it was a huge disappointment. Pros: View, Ambiance, Wine selection Cons: Service, Food, Management more

The best service, the best food... 10/4/2006

Everytime I have had an opportunity to dine at the Loft I have never been more satisfied and overwhelmed by the above par food and service. The view is spectacular, and the food is fantastic - everyone should try the Coffee Crusted New York once in their life - IT IS AMAZING!!!! But what keeps me coming back even more is the outstanding service. The only time I have had a server that knowledgeable and that attentive is when I have dined in finer restaurants in San Francisco and New York - and even then The Loft gives them a run for their money. The bartender Dave is not only fun but can tell you everything about the area. For a casual fun bite to eat I recommend eating with him in the bar. But this best part of the experience is the huge wine list and the more than accomadating sommelier. Sit down, pick out what you want and then ask the sommelier Kristina to do wine pairings for you, I am never short of amazed at the innovating wines she recommends. Truly outstanding! Pros: Service, Wine Food, View Cons: Parking more

Amazing view, Garbage food 7/27/2006

Really can't find a better view and quiet location in Southern California. As such, the prices are rather exorbant. I would love to come and dine again due to the view and not worry about the prices, but the food is plain horrible. Could not believe how bad the food actually was. \r \r I'll be back, but only to grab a cocktail at the bar. Pros: The View is Unreal! Cons: The Food is Inedible. more

Great view, very romantic! 7/18/2006

I like to go here for special occassions and just went to celebrate my annivesary. I love this place because it's fancy and casual at the same time - meaning no pretentious people. Service is great and the view of the ocean is wonderful. Their coffee crusted New York strip is SO delicious and I don't even eat steak that often. I also love their hand cut lobster pasta and lobster bisque. I don't know where they get their lobster from, but it always tastes so sweet and scrumptious!! Read more of my reviews at in-oc. com more
