The Scene
A subtle nod is paid to the restaurant's former life as a rescue station: Cozy wood-paneled walls are adorned with life-saving gear, including oars, rustic lanterns, a brass bell and a freestanding ship's wheel. Spinning fans overhead and elegant wine displays built into the wall give dining areas a casual but upscale vibe in tune with the posh Sanderling Resort and Spa. Service is friendly and professional.
The Food
The seafood-heavy menu carries a hint of New South flavor. Sweet, moist corn bread whets the appetite. Creamy Sanderling signature chowder--packed with corn, scallions, shrimp and chopped veggies--should start any meal. Lunch entrees include crispy tempura battered fish and oysters, served with a tangy remoulade with mustard seed and capers. Lighter bites include fruit smoothies, salads and a selection of hot or cold sandwiches.
