Finally found a spot in my home office for a lamp I inherited from my mom, which had been in the attic for 30 years. The shade was torn. On the phone, they recommended I bring in the lamp. Good idea! They are really helpful and have a keen eye for what looks good and what doesn't. They have tons of shades, finials and harps of all different sizes. They also make custom shades, custom lamps and do lamp repair. The shop is on a side street right off of Waukegan road in Glenview. There's plenty of parking in the back. After a new silk shade, new harp of the right length and a new finial, mom's lamp looks great! Thanks Lamp Shader! more

The best place for shades. 11/8/2010

I have used the Lamp Shader many times to make custom lamps or find just the right shade and finial to finish a lamp. Their service is amazing. You won't believe how good they make your lamp look by the way they know just what the right size of harp, style and color of the shade, and the perfect finial to top it off with can do. It is not an easy thing to do, and if you want something that is well-proportioned and unique, I can't recommend the Lamp Shader enough. more

A Treasure 4/28/2009

A visit to The Lamp Shader is well worth the drive. This unique and darling boutique houses more lampshades than one can imagine. Classic and contemporary -- whimsical and practical. They can even custom create a shade for that perfect lamp. What is most impressive about this shop is the attention to detail and the owners vast knowledge of lighting. What will bring me back time and time again is the customer service and care that is given to each customer whether they are buying a lamp .. a shade .. or even just a finial to top off that perfect look. more

Great Find! 2/16/2009

My husband and I were referred to the Lamp Shader by a friend who was very pleased with the service she received. We couldn't have been happier with everything. They can get you whatever you like if it's not in the store; and they can make lamps out of just about anything you bring in. A Great Find! more

Shades Galore 11/28/2005

This is a really special shop for any type of lamp shade you could possibly want. They have all the usual types and many unusual sizes and shapes. If you have an old or antique lamp, you are sure to get help finding the right shade here. This is a rather wealthy area, so the prices are not low, but if you want something that will really create a special lighting piece for you, it's probably worth the extra money. The workmanship is usually very fine as well so your shade will not go to pieces on you like some of the cheaper ones do. You'll love the place! more
