The Home Place Restaurant

We have been there before but we went Fri. eve. before Father's Day--seated immediately, waitress was worst we've ever encountered, for our party of 6 we were given food for 2 people and she begrudgingly refilled the bowls once! Then we waited 20 mins before her return for coffee/dessert. For $l3/person I will go elsewhere when visiting Roanoke again! What a disappointment for such a beautiful setting. more

We were there on Memorial day weekend and were seated within 25 minutes of our arrival. This was contrary to many of the other reviews we read. The food and service were great and the price was very, very reasonable for what you got. We will definitely go back and will definitely tell all our friends and relatives about "The Homeplace" more

The Homeplace is a pretty long drive for a meal, but once you try their home cooking, you'll be gald you went. The restaurant is an old farmhouse. They serve the food family-style, meaning they bring the food on serving trays and in bowls and everyone puts food on their own plates at their table. Thursdsay is the best day because it is the only day they serve pork barbecue. On Thursday and other days, they also serve roast beef, chicken, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, pinto beans, biscuits and apple butter. For dessert, they serve cobbler with ice cream. The meal typically costs $11 if you get three meats, but is about $14 if you go on Thursday and opt to get all four meats. It is well worth the money. Just don't plan on eating at all that day prior to going. more
