The Home Depot

At a recent family gathering we had the Menards / Home Depot debate. I am a huge Home Depot fan! The wide aisles and well organized layout make the store extremely shop-able. What really keeps me loyal is that they hire retired handy-men and work-men who really know their stuff and are able to describe it even to the handyman-challenged like me. I can't believe how many projects they've talked me through and how many return trips they've saved me by saying, oh you're going to need this too (I always do!). Now, this next bit I haven't verified -- but my sister in law also says that if you've charged your purchase and lost the receipt, you can plug your credit card number into a computer and print out past receipts to return your items hassle free! The Home Depot is a one stop shop in my book. I even have stock in due to the fact that I shop there too much. They carry everything and anything you need for your home improvements. You could build a home, completely with everything that they sell there. They do offer workshops, though I have never attended any. I probably should. They also have a good garden shop with flowers and plants and even shrubs and trees. Good quality merchandise. And a lot cheaper than Lowes. more

From the nails to the lumber and even the kitchen sink! First saturday of every month they have a workshop just for the kids! And don't forget they have workshops for the home owners every Saturday too!! Plus.. they are having their FIRST women's ONLY workshop in the fall of 2005 for the ladies! About time! Great bargains, super people. There is always an associate around to help you too. The lines are never too long. Almost forgot.. Check out the paint department. They keep all the paint mistakes back there now. One gallon for $5 and a quart for $1. Any brand, any style. Great for small projects such as making birdhouses. more
