When we moved in we had some work to do to our house. One of the things suggested by the inspector was to get a fire door installed between the kitchen and the garage. I went to Home Depot and decided to use their installation service. Either they didn't tell me or I didn't know, but apparently in this case you buy all the materials and take them home, and the installation company that Home Depot contracts with comes and installs it. I didn't realize that so I signed up to have it done, but then I had to get a door to my house so they could install it. They also didn't tell me all the materials I needed, so after renting a truck from them (they do rent trucks by the hour which is a nice service), we had to get something door sized that we weren't told about in the first place. So I ended up paying them (there is a $50 charge) to bring the supplies "with them" (I think the installation company picks it up at Home Depot on the way), when we had already bought the other supplies. Oh, and there was part of this story where Home Depot was supposed to call me to set up a time and they never did, so I ended up calling them back. I'm not quite sure what Home Depot did to get the fee they got, but they did get a fee. I did like the company they contracted with, but dealing with Home Depot was a real pain.
