The Grove West Seattle Inn

We have stayed at this little inn several times. It is clean, simple and has a most friendly staff! Had a request for more lighting and we had a lamp immediately. A great place in West Seattle! Simplicity and great basic lodging! West Seattle has wonderful restaurants and ""small town feel."" more

We stayed 10 days at The Grove when we helped our daughter and family move. They have a wonderful breakfast. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We could easily walk to the ""main"" street for groceries, restaurants, actually all of our needs. We would certainly stay here again. \r more

The staff were helpful and friendly, and its a short walk to shopping/dining. They also provide a free breakfast.they have a parking lot and the parking is also free. more

The rooms are clean and decorated in a nice retro style. There are nice flat screen tvs and free wifi internet access. We stayed in a suite with a kitchen area, dining table and separate bedroom. Our room had plenty of closet and drawer space for clothing as well as a desk.\r \r The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. more

This is a great little place to stay in West Seattle. It seems like a old fashioned motel with parking right in front of the rooms but was recently renovated. Room was bright and clean.\r \r more

Stayed in this motel when it was a Travelodge many years ago. It was nice then, but it's even nicer now. The location is great - the bus into Seattle is just across the street and it only takes about 10 minutes to get into town, without all the headaches of looking for a place to park, which is just about impossible in Seattle. The new owners have done a wonderful job with updating the rooms, and the outside looks much better, too! The only thing I can say somewhat negative about my room (Room 201) was that there was no AC. They did have a good fan going, but it didn't do quite as good of a job as AC. The other rooms appeared to have AC, though. However, if this was the only room available and I stayed here again, I'd still take it. It's just a nice, cozy, and clean place. I would definitely recommend it to friends and I would stay there again. more

My second trip to Seattle (gotta keep tabs on your adult children, even if they don't think they need looking after, right?) brought me back to The Grove.\r \r Two things that I experienced made me happy that I that I had chosen to stay here again:\r \r 1) When I first got to my room after arriving in the evening, I saw that there was no separate floor lamp near the armchair. Since I was going to be here for a few days and I like to read at night, I went to the office and asked if - while there was no rush - I could get a lamp the next day. Within 10 minutes there was a knock on my door and there was the desk clerk with a lamp.\r \r 2) I needed to meet a business colleague for an all-day meeting and thought we'd simply work in the large, public room where breakfast is served. I found out, however that the room was only open during breakfast hours. I asked the breakfast attendant if there was any other room that I could use, and she told me that they did have a small meeting room and suggested that I check with the manager to see if it was available today. I went to talk with the manager after eating breakfast, and discovered that a) the breakfast attendant had already seen him and alerted him to the fact that a guest had inquired about the meeting room; and b) he had already gone to the room, opened it up and turned on the heat (yep, you need heat in Seattle in October) so that the room was all ready to be used before I even approached him. It was a very nice small conference room with a long table, comfortable chairs and a private bathroom.\r So kudos to the staff, and thank you for a VERY enjoyable stay. more

We stayed for 4 nights and was perfect. The price included parking. A free shuttle bus down to the waterfront was right across the street. Once on the waterfront we took the short water taxi ride into downtown Seattle. When done for the day in Seattle took the water taxi back and caught the free shuttle bus back to the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable and the front desk / lobby person was friendly and helpful. more

Everyone at the Grove in West Seattle were very friendly and helpful. This Inn is very reasonable in price and Very convenient to downtown Seattle by way of the water taxi. the fee for the taxi was like 3.00 for each way and gives a phenomenal view of Seattle as you approach arrival. It drops you off right downtown and from that point you can easily see everything by foot or tram. The Grove has very nice rooms with nice decorations and mattresses. The breakfast has fresh fruit yogurts and all the other breakfast bar choices. The rooms are the size of the original hotel that was renovated by the ingenous people who thought of saving this site.So the rooms might be a bit small to some people but my family did not have a problem at all with room size. Besides you have so many things to do and see in Seattle that you will not be there except to sleep. And again the mattresses were very comfortable so you will get a great night's sleep so that you can get out and see more the next day.i will always stay here while visiting seattle!! more

The motel has different sections grouped around a small office. One section is around a court yard with parking space and another section is along Alaska road. The rooms around the court yard are relatively quiet, Alaska road is busy.\r \r The room was somewhat small but OK. It had a handy table on wheels so you can easily move it where you want, an office chair, an easy chair, refrigerator, coffee machine and flat screen TV. The bathroom was nice and clean.\r \r Free Wifi worked well and had sufficient speed for streaming media.\r \r There is a guest laundry, staff was friendly and helpful. more

We really enjoyed staying at this west Seattle hotel. Our room was clean, comfortable and most importantly quiet (we are parents away from our toddlers and needed to sleep!) We enjoyed the fact that we left our vehicle for three nights while using public transportation, the shuttle/water taxi and walking to get around. We would definitely recommend staying here and will be back again in the future hopefully! more

The Grove struck me as a budget motel operated by a family determined to manage it exceptionally well. Picture the layout of a run-of-the-mill Super 8 or Motel 6, in the hands of people eager to run it like the Trump Tower. You get a free buffet, and it's a _better_ buffet, with several goodies not usually found in the free morning offerings at other hotels. You get a clean, quiet room, but it's a _better_ clean, quiet room. Someone put in some real care in choosing the furnishings. \r \r I suspect that prices could soar here if Seattle business travelers realize how easy it is to travel downtown from this place by transit. The RapidRide express bus stops only two blocks away, runs frequently and very nearly whisks riders downtown. There's another bonus: a really first rate vegetarian-type restaurant -- Chaco Canyon Organic Cafe -- is also only a few blocks away, too.\r \r My room had a connecting door to another suite. I did not hear a peep out of that connecting door and slept soundly, but usually avoid such lay-outs when I can. The room also did not have an ironing board or iron, although staff was happy to loan me one, free of charge. The laundry room is accessible by a special key, available at the front desk. \r \r Others have written that the wi-fi is problematic. Perhaps they've revamped the system since then; it worked flawlessly. \r \r If I come back to Seattle, I'll try to book a room here. more
