Downtown Dane a fun experience 4/16/2006

The Dane is a great brewpub with tons of unique beers offered on a daily basis. They also have a full bar, pool, darts, and other pub games. It is essentially divided into three sections: bar area, dining area, and rathskeller. While the bar and dining areas are nothing special, the downtown rathskeller and courtyard are fantastic! The food is hit-and-miss, with some great entrees and others to avoid. \r \r Overall: It's a fun place and a great way to spend a night of good eating and drinking. PROS: good beer, great athmosphere CONS: inconsistent food quality more

this is an excellent place to take a date. they brew their own beer here, have plenty of atmosphere with thier dark wooden booths, etc. and the wait staff is always friendly ... plus, resonable prices. more

Great enviornment, great food 12/21/2005

I really enjoy this restaurant. The atmosphere is great. There's such a wide variety of food. A great place for taking people on their last day of work as a goodbye party, or going after work for a drink. PROS: Great food CONS: Not close by more

  • Founded in 1994, The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company offers a variety of eating and drinking establishments. It has a mahogany bar that offers a variety of beer, ales and lagers, with a seasonal specialty brew. The pub s bar also serves a range of scotches, brandies and cordials. Its facility includes a billiards lounge, beer garden, lounge area, gift shop and pool hall. The pub offers a variety of beer, such as landmark lite, cask ales, peck's pilsner, crop circle wheat, devils lake red lager and emerald isle stout. The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company, with one of its locations in Madison, Wis., has other locations in Fitchburg, Wis.
