Editorial review from Citysearch 8/15/2012

I found it to be an inefficiently run office. I came in for a tetanus shot and left two hours later. Other patients went in ahead of me. I was told I wasn't being skipped, but that I had to wait longer than them because I was only seeing the nurse. I've never worked in a doctor's office, but that does not make sense to me. No one should have to wait that long for such a simple shot when the office is not all that busy. more

Best Family Doctor Around 8/26/2010

I have been going to The Family Doctor since 1968. I cannot imagine a more caring and professional practice anywhere. I remember numerous illnesses and injuries of mine that he has treated through the years like stepping on a nail that went through my foot and got infected. He's more of an advocate tor my own health that I am. He treats the source of the problem, not just the symptoms too and he won't let me pull the wool over his eyes or play doctor There was one point in my life where my health was going South fast and he referred me to a sleep doctor. Now I sleep like a baby at night and in retrospect I don't think I would even be alive now if it wasn't for Dr. Withrow His wife is the head nurse and is specialist in diabetes care. One of his physician's assistance was a Vietnam medic. On one occasion he pulled a three inch splinter out of my butt I got on a dock while sailing. He only hires the best and the brightest and they are a cohesive group with the highest standards. In addition, how many doctor's have taken medical supplies and taken trips to middle American countries to help the poor. There is a clinic in Grifton that began during Hurricane Fran when all the attention was going to the bigger cities that were flooded. There was an NPR story about that one. In any case, I highly recommend The Family Doctor! more

Very helpful and available Walk- In Care! 7/12/2010

I had to house sit for a family friend this weekend who had multiple animals. Come Sunday night, my allergies had reacted full blown to the animals. Monday morning I awoke and decided to go to The Family Doctor. They thankfully were open at 8am, and were able to see me as a Walk-In right then and there! The staff from the beginning to the end of my visit were very friendly and helpful. I was able to take care of my allergic reaction before it got too bad. I would definately return to this clinic. Pros: **listed in headline Cons: N/A more

Great Staff Great Service! 7/2/2010

I have been a patient of The Family Doctor for many years and have always been pleased with the staff and the services I've received. I had an accident with my bike over the weekend and went to their urgent care clinic. They did x-rays which showed a fracture and since they don't do any casting there (which makes the previous review a little suspect), I was placed in a splint and sling and they made arrangements for me to be seen immediately at Triangle Orthopaedics. I'd probably still be waiting if I had gone to the ER. Thanks for the quick diagnosis, and for getting me into a specialist the same day! Pros: Staff - Hours Cons: None I'm aware of more

? practice 3/26/2009

I brought my young autistic son to the Family Doctor after he fell at school & was not using the arm or hand. Xrays were taken & a greenstick fx found in forearm. Dr. casted arm from fingers to mid arm that was so loose that my son removed it in one piece a week later. After a five hr. wait in the local ED his arm was recast with one from wrist to elbow. Parents beware & question. more

Incompetent 12/1/2008

I went there a few weeks ago because I took a spill on my mountain bike. I already knew I had at least one broken rib as I could feel it pop every time I took a breath. more
