We went at 11 am on a Monday to their 2127 Belcourt Ave location. We were there before it got busy, it looked like the lunch crowd was starting to head in around 11:30am. It was clean and the food was very good. My husband and I both got their Chili Dog. He like their bread, I didn't care too much for it , but the overall dog was great, and the chili was the best part, in my opinion. They use Vienna all beef dogs, which are the best!! Tasted very fresh and quality. The place was clean, including the restroom, the staff was friendly. We tried it because we had a coupon, we'd return again with our kids, early on a weekend another day, before it got busy to make sure we got a table. It's in the college area so it's a relaxed joint. Their menu looks like it has variety. The man sitting next to us got a hamburger that looked awesome! Maybe I'll try one of those!? more

I love the Dog! The staff are friendly, and the menu is great. They have a lot of hot dog choices from veggie to turkey to sausage-type dogs. I had a corn dog and chili cheese tater tots and they were delicious. My meal was also really affordable. I have also heard excellent things about their housemade chips. The outside seating that they have is excellent. Highly recommended when you're in the mood for a tasty hot dog! It wasn't bad, but who makes a Chicago Style dog without onions? Not cool. Maybe that's why they call it a Chi Town instead of Chicago Style, because it definitely isn't Chicago Style. Guess I should have read the ingredient list before I ordered. At least they put celery salt on it though, (which isn't on the description). The name is deceiving, though. The Dog of Nashville has actually moved to 2127 Belcourt Ave (by the Belcourt Theatre) in Hillsboro Village. Their winter hours are 11 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week. Large HDTVs on every corner, and cool decorations! Food is great, filling, and reasonably priced. Besides their hot dogs and sides, they also have home made half pound burgers, and the Titan, which is a half pound hot dog completely loaded with toppings, so big, they give you a steak knife to eat it with! They have two different soups, Beer Cheese soup and White Bean soup. Veggie dogs, turkey dogs, and bratwursts are available. Fresh toppings prepared daily. Buffalo chips served with a side of ranch! Dog bites, which are breaded and fried jalapeno peppers, also served with ranch. Frozen Snickers bars. They were voted Best Onion Rings in Nashville in the Scene, and I agree. They have hand-dipped corn dogs now, plain or jalapeno cheddar. They have a nice selection of beer, domestic, import, and specialty beers, and they even have a beer bucket special for students! Great place to eat, great location, and when the weather's nicer, the patio will be a great place to chill and eat. most dog places in town close around 3 (the only exception i know of is zackie's) but when i can break away from work during the day, i invariably head to the dog. Pros: friendly staff, good atmosphere Cons: parking in the front is garbage, pull around back more

My husband heard about this restaurant from a radio commercial. We (hubby, myself, & our 2 boys) were stoked. We piled in the car and made the 16 minute trek from Hermitage. We got to there at about 6:30. THEY WERE CLOSED!!!! Date Night? The place closes at 3 in the afternoon. If you want to try these ""awesome dogs"", you're going to have to take a vacation day from work! Needless to say we were very disappointed and left hungry.... We do plan on trying to make another trip there on a Saturday. Pros: Dunno... YET! Cons: VERY limited hours more

I just stopped by for the first time and ordered a simple dog with chili and cheese and a coke. The dog is too big to have such a small amount of chili and cheese on it. The price is outrageous too! $6.01 for a dog and drink? I don't think so. Probably won't return. more

My wife and I love The Dog. It's a great date night location when you're looking to not break the bank. They are inexpensive enough to get two if the first one didn't fill you up. You probably won't be going back for seconds, however, if you get one of the huge side items like tater tots or home made potato chips. The sides are more than big enough to split. It's a comfortable atmosphere. Beer, hot dogs, tots, and friends, what's not to like? Pros: Great food. Lots of tv's. Cons: You'll get messy :) more

So...my friend and I can't stop eating it! We go there at least once a week! The hot dogs are great, and it's nice to be able to customize your dog to your own liking! I must say, I am usually a very healthy eater, but this is worth the fat and calories! Great service too! Pros: everything! Cons: cons? not possible! more

Actually, you CAN get a dog, side and a drink for around $5. You can add a drink and side to any order for $2.50, and a basic dog costs $2.75 (the most common toppings are free). Pros: Nice atmosphere and service Cons: Buns not as good as before, Italian Beef not an Italian Beef more

I don't know what this guy before me is talking about. The place has good atmosphere....chili dogs were just OK.....but WAY OVER PRICED! You CANNOT....I repeat....CANNOT get a loaded dog, side and drink here for $5.00. More like $10.00. I ordered two dogs, side drink and my bill was over $15.00. Pros: Nice Decor. Me and 4 buddies from work went here for lunch today. The food was fantastic. I mean, it's hot dogs. So if you're looking for gourmet, then this is not where you should go. I had a straight up regular dog with the standard toppings (relish, mustard, ketchup and onions), a corn dog (delicious coating) and tater tots. I have never had so many tater tots in all my life. One of my companions had the onion rings which he also thought were on the money. They had many cool house dogs with fun names like ""Diet Starts Tomorrow Dog"" and ""Oye Vey"" (dog and cream cheese). You can get a dog (dog, bread and topping choices), a side item (beans, slaw, tots, fries, etc.) and a drink for about $5.00. Definitely check this joint out. I know we'll all be back. The ingredients are fresh. The service is quick. The staff is friendly. And the Chihuahua dog rocks my world!! You'll need to wash it down with a cold beer though (yep, they serve it). You won't be disappointed with this restaurant one bit, and the plasma TVs are just an added bonus. The Dog is a fantastic place to hang with friends on the weekend or stop by for lunch during the week! more
