The District On Luther

I currently live at The District On luther and I feel it is a great place to live. Reading some of these other comments reminds me of the old saying that only those who are not happy will tell others but the ones that are happy do not. There are a 1000 people that live here and there are only a handful of complaints....what does that truly say about the place. The staff, management, maintenance, leasing, ammenities and resident events are great. It is in a good location and a good price. Stop by and see for yourself! more

The District on Luther is the worst place to live in College Station. DO NOT live there. The staff is extremely rude and incompetent. The students that are ""community assisstants"" are completely stupid and are just there to put something on their resume and don't care about you at all. If you want to get a maintanenc request done, you might as well get our your own tools because nothing is going to get done. When I called and asked why my ""urgent"" request to unclog my garbage disposal was not answered they rudely informed me that the maintance guys have 48 hrs to respond to any request, even if it is marked urgent. They have a gate and act like they are a gated community, but people will be drunk and partying in the parking lot and nothing is done about it. The gate is basically just there for looks apparently. One time the cops came to break up a party in our parking lot and those residents were not kicked out or fined or anything. I had to wake up to people screaming ""THIS IS THE POLICE!"" and flashing lights in my window. When I wanted to get a cat and pay my pet deposit, I was lied to and told that I only had to pay a $350 deposit. Later they increased my rent by $25 per month and told me that I should have read the handbook. The rent is too high and they act like they are doing you a favor by holding ""events"" and having a family like community there. I have never witnessed any such thing. The ""events"" are supposed to be run by the community assisstants and they are required to hold a certain number per semester. Since the CA's are also students a lot of the events are BS'd at the last minute and nobody shows up. They will run out of supplies or forget to put out the flier until the day before. The District steals your money without giving you anything valuable in return. Their apartments are probably ten years old now and not worth the jacked up price. Campus Advantage is the worst company ever and they will rob you blind. DO NOT live at The District. more

I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GIVE THEM 1 STAR. IF YOU LIVE HERE MAKE SURE YOU'RE PRE LAW because you will be arguing with them for everything. I would not recommend this place to even to my worst enemy. The staff is rude and always trying to con it's residents. If you do decide to live here then make sure you INSIST AND SAVE ALL YOUR RECEIPTS because they will periodically claim you owe them an outstanding balance of 'x' amount. I was told I owed for the month of december when I had clearly paid in advance and luckly had my receipt and check number as evidence. It feels like everyone at the district is paying a different price on rent, hence he staff also has NO IDEA what is going on. I was told i would get a 250 dollar gift card or the amount prorated to my rent for referring a friend. DO NOT BELIEVE THIS. Unless you get them to put it all in writing, it is useless to expect any such thing. When I asked them about my 250 gift card they kept on saying you have to wait till my referral had lived here at least a month. When my referral had clearly lived there for semester, they started claiming that I never filled out a form saying I referred a friend and that my friend didn't mention on the lease papers that she was referred by me. All these people do is try to con you out of money. They are quick to fine you for every little thing, but when it comes to adhering to the terms of their contract they do not see through. It's not a surprise why they have changed management a few times. Now the worst part about the district on luther, aside from all the conning and maintenance problems is how staff members like to BARGE IN UNANNOUNCED. I have no idea to this day why they do this. It's almost as if they are checking up on their residents. You don't feel like you are living at your own apartment, because they walk in whenever they want and check your rooms. One specific instance was when a lady walked in and said she had to go to my room to ""check if the part where you keep the keyboard of the study desk still rolled out"" and she proceeded to check this in every room. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT live here. Even if you have to pay a little extra somewhere else...trust me it's worth it. more

The management is terrible and very disrespectful. Nothing gets done on time whether it be a service order you put in or just to get into your apartment if you are locked out. The police guard they they are supposed to have to protect the apartment is always either asleep in his car or just sitting in his outside office doing absolutely nothing with the gates wide open. Once again, did I mention that the whole management office including the RA's are DISRESPECTFUL? I urge you not to live there or you will regret it, and if you do then I guess you'll find out for yourself. Pros: none. Cons: everything. more
