Dining in the Long Beach WA area can be a bit daunting. If you're not craving fish 'n chips, there are not that many options available for you. But, all that has changed with The Depot.
First off, I love the historic building that it's in. A 100+ year old train station for hauling oysters? Now that's pretty cool.
Secondly, the food is amazing. It's akin to a cute bistro in downtown Seattle, but it's at the coast instead. The prices are a little like you would find in Seattle, but that does not bother me if the quality is there, which it was.
I agree with the previous review that you MUST try the Thai Calimari. It was the best calimari I've ever had and a welcome departure from the typical fried calimari with aoli.
My only other must when you visit this restaurant (since I am sure you will be delighted with your meal, whatever you order) is to request the chef table when making a reservation. We had the pleasure of sitting there on New Years Eve and it was so much fun to watch the chef do his thing. It also helps you decide what to order since you can see first hand what the dishes look like while being prepared. The chef was super friendly and personable too, offering to answer any questions we may have and chatting here and there.
It was really a fun and delicious experience and we will definitely be back next time we're in Long Beach!
