Awesome! One of the best dining experiences of my life! We had a wonderful romantic evening with a stroll around the park across the road

Worst

:-/

We went to there for a celebration with-a group of us. I was expecting to be there, and get a phenomenal meal and dining experience. However, the evening was a little disappointi...

AWSOME, RESTAURANT 6/6/2005

everthing was excellant, service, food, all the staff were just increable. you could not find a better restaurant in the whole state.AWSOME!!!!!!!!! Pros: GREAT RESTAURANT, AWSOME RESTAURANT, INCREDABLE RESTAURANT more

My 2 cents worth 6/5/2005

While I've been to numerous coasts and then some and in-between, I'm not so haughty, etc. to call attention to living in numerous places.., ahem, but when I visit Minneapolis and the surrounding area, friends and dining are always a great combination. The Capital Grille, as part of a national chain network, by way of its corporate design gets fairly lost in its own miasmic and intransigent shuffle. As when things aren't right, which I've experienced a few times, there's pretty much nothing other than a shrugging of some rather narrow shoulders and the bill IS presented. And yes, the wine card is a rip, Robert Parker and I are on the same page.... I'm fairly easy to please and I know great from good - or less, but I've seen far better places to fill my piehole. Pros: The hype Cons: The reality more

Special occasion 5/22/2005

We'll put the Cap on our list of favorites for special occasions, but also a nice after show dessert and nightcap spot. We cannot say enough good things about the wait staff. We went on a Sunday night and were the last customers in. They were exceedingly attentive, but not intrusive. Informative and helpful (I couldn't decide whether to get the Petite Filet Mignon or the Sliced, and they steered me toward the latter, which was a fabulous choice because I love the sweet onions, wild mushrooms, and the fig reduction). They made us feel that we were very special on our special night out together. We highly recommend this outstanding restaurant. Good things really are good, and there are very few that could be this good! Pros: exceptional food, fabulous service, special occasion more

Very nice 1/5/2005

Great, and I mean great service. Food excellent, and it better be for the prices. Most expensive steaks in the city. Nice place. Always busy, so not very quiet or romantic. Tough for big groups to talk since noise level is up there Pros: Service, Food more

Best restaurant in town 6/9/2004

This is by far the best steak I've ever had. The service was exceptional. I was treated like a King. My friend had the lamb chops. Those were just as excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. The valet service is outstanding as well. Once again, this is the best steak I've ever had. Pros: good food, good service, good valet parking more

Traditional Steak done Creativly 6/5/2004

The Capital Grille has proven itself to stand by the big steak houses by offering prime dry aged beef, outstanding service, incredible ambience, and an enormous and well-educated wine list. But with the creative and flavorful options for your steak like the Au Poivre, with peppercorn and Courvoisier Cream Sauce, or the Sliced Filet, with Chippolini Onions, Mushrooms, and Fig Essence, or their Roquefort Butter sauce for their sliced steak, the restaurant has passed anything this city has to offer. Pros: Great Staff, Incredible Food, Free Valet Parking Cons: , None! more

impressed 3/5/2004

My wife and I must rave about this restuarant. Living on both coasts and in Minneapolis, and constantly trying new steak and seafood reatuarants, Capital Grille was absolutely among the best. The staff was perfect (attentive, friendly, respectful and informative), the food and wine superb. It has the dark, clubby decor that steakhouses share, but they get it right, with enough quirks to avoid being too formulaic. It was a pleasure. Pros: extraordinary food, amazing value, valet more

Capital Grille 7/6/2003

I have eaten at the Capital Grille several times and the experience has always been supurb. I am in the Twin Cities on business several times a year and dinner at the Cap is always a priority. Pros: Amianace, Helpful Staff, Great food more

let someone else pay 6/18/2003

The portions are large, but not up to the standards of the other steak houses. At another steakhouse I enjoyed, I was served two chops for what CG charged for one, for example, and my wife's veal chop had so much fat she had to trim about half of it away. Their much-touted wine collection is conspicuously geared towards expense accounts. The meat was okay but my steak au poive, though tasty, was by no means the best I have had. I ate nothing bad here and I had a nice meal. But at 77 dollars/person (I had a coupon that reduced that thank goodness), I expected more. One quirk: the lighting was way too low in the dining room. I could barely see my guests. Pros: hard drinks, service, atmosphere Cons: cost, food more

Worst Steak I've Ever Eaten 2/10/2003

A friend and I dined at the Capital Grille on a early Sunday evening. I ordered the serloin and my friend ordered the filet. Aside from the serloin not being tender, I left half of it on my plate due to grizzle and fat. The filet was over done, tastless and also not tender like a dry aged piece of meat should be. The waiter never returned during the meal to ask how the food was. When I asked for the check he could plainly see that there was a large portion of meat left on both of our plates. I had to tell him we were not happy the the meal. His only comment was he was sorry we did not enjoy the food. I realize that a bad steak can happen, but two bad steaks and poor service was enough for me. more

Great Steak & Atmosphere 1/13/2003

The Capital Grille has the best service in MSP. I worked there on business for over a year and became a frequent diner. The staff is excellent and the fare as well. I especially enjoyed there competitive wine prices. The specials are the best and the managers and servers remember their customers. more

Fabulous Experience! 1/13/2003

My father flew in to see a concert with me. We dined at The Capital Grille prior to the show. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious and the atmosphere that of a comfortable living room. After the concert we went back for an after ""concert"" cocktail. more

Delicious! 12/19/2002

My parents and my husband and I ate there this summer, and were very impressed. Good service, good wine list, and absolutely wonderful steaks! more

Great Show Restaurant 12/2/2002

Had dinner here before seeing ""The Producers."" The meal, wine and atmosphere was excellent! I had the special - filet and scallops, my husband had the filet and we split a potato. Both of our steaks were done perfectly - which doesn't happen often, even at Manny's! The atmosphere is better than Ruth's Chris and Murray's - and it was right across the street from the show! more

Great Food 10/17/2002

The Capital Grille is a very nice restaurant with excellent service and great food. The steaks are some of the best you can find in town. Be prepared to pay a lot for it. more

Personable service 10/14/2002

The service was the best. The food was timed perfectly and the servers were very friendly, not snobby at all! Described every aspect of the meal and everyone seemed to know it was our anniversary. Great food, great service. Pros: service, coat check, atmospher more

Better than the reviews and cheaper! 8/9/2002

I read most of the reviews on this site for Capital Grille and I can honestly say unless you add a bottle of wine or 2 there is no way you will spend $100 per person. Three of us ate there a few weeks ago, porterhouse, thick sliced sirloin, chicken, potatoes for 4, dessert for 3, 3 drinks and a coke plus tip and was under $200. The thick sliced sirloin in rochford sauce is amazing! You have to try it. If you like chicken though, Ruth's Chris herb/butter chicken is the best you'll find. This place blows the doors off of Kincaids and ranks close with Manny's. Pros: dnr for 2 undr $200, romantic, great service Cons: ltd steak selection, long wait times more
