I drove by the buttery for 9 years before ever stopping to taste their goodies. I wasted thousands of dollars at other coffee houses and bakeries, because their products are truly...

Worst

Don't even think of ordering your wedding cake from the Buttery!!!! Unless you don't mind crying on your special day. We ordered a $735 wedding cake from them, provided pictures...

great desserts and more at the Buttery 4/16/2006

I avoided going to the Buttery for a long time because I imagined everything would be coated in butter. Perhaps that is the case, but the treats at the Buttery are pretty darn good. Not as good as Kelly's French Bakery, but still a great place to go when you want some baked goods, or sandwiches. Alex and my personal favs are the eclairs and the tiramisu, which comes with a little chocolate stick on top. more

Good 9/20/2005

The Buttery is a good place for a cup of coffee and a scone and a chance to catch up with old friends. The garden seating is nice, as is the inside when it's cold outside. It's a bustling little place, the warm inside lined with bread on the wallks and sparkling cases full to the brim of pastries. Try their Russian Wheat Bread, hearty and delicious it is absolutely wonderful brought home, toasted and spread with peanut butter. Their macaroons are also really great- one with a cup of coffee is a great little snack. Overall, a fun little place. more

Excellent pastries and cakes 8/17/2005

The Buttery serves the best baked goods in town. I can honestly say that they make the best Bear Claws I have ever tasted. The cinnamon filling is fresh and thick. It is topped with sliced almonds and drizzled frosting. They have several other pastries including muffins, croissants, and danishes. There are several types of seasonal and non-seasonal cake varieties including my favorite Strawberry Shortcake made with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and your choice of colored sugar flowers. There are also many types of freshly baked breads. The Buttery also has a lunch menu which includes soups and sandwiches. There is limited dining area. It tends to get very hot inside so I would suggest taking lunch to go. more

The Buttery Bakery also offers a variety of breads, including whole wheat, sourdough, three seed, German rye, Italiano, house bread, baguettes and buns. It is located in Santa Cruz, Calif..
