Animals galore 11/30/2006

We took my 2 yr old son to the Bronx Zoo and he loved and enjoyed every minute of it. They have a number of species of animals. The giraffes and zebras are in a natural setting and looks very nice. Don't miss to see the gorillas in the Congo Forest. This enclosure is well maintained but you have to pay $3 extra to see the gorillas. It is a whole day trip and your kids will have a great time. The price of admission is about $14 per person and kids above the age of 2 are charged $12 and parking is $8. So it does make it quite expensive if you go on the monorail and see the gorillas. On Wednesdays, admission is by donation. So you can save some money if you visit the zoo on Wednesday. Overall a good zoo and teaches children about the various animals. http://bronxzoo.com/bzhomepage more

Great Place for Kids and Adults 11/8/2005

This zoo is positively huge and the animal exhibits are very natural. You may want to get the annual pass because you could never see the whole place in one day and the pass will pay for itself in two visits. Wednesday is donation day you get in for $5 but it is definitely more crowded that day. more

dirty but exciting 8/23/2005

The best zoo in the city. Free on wednesdays, great for kids. The parking lot is hard to navigate, but the sites are great. One a year they host ice sculptures at night, and the views are fantastic. Good food selection, and the white faced capuuchin monkeys are icnredible. Sea Lions and Birds are the other highlight. They often hold special features each semester. more

The Bronx Zoo 8/22/2005

The Bronx Zoo is a great place, be prepared for alot of walking! We got a free child admission by showing a Bank of America credit card this summer, which saved us $8. There was alot of traffic when we got there just to park. Once inside they nickel and dime you, so it may be worth the money to buy the pay one price admission. The butterfly tent is always my favorite part. The gorillas were pretty cool this time too. It is a well mantained zoo. more

Excellent very large zoo. Great day trip. 8/3/2005

The Bronx Zoo has hundreds of animals to see from bats to snakes to gorillas and tigers and more many in a 'natural' environment. Everything tends to be wide apart so be prepared to walk alot and definitely bring the stroller (though you will have to park it outside some of the exhibits so don't leave anything valuable behind!) The Children's zoo is great and has many interactive exhibits like walking in and out of a rope spider web and a petting zoo with a warthog. Do NOT go on family days when admission is free if you don't like lots of crowds. Do bring snacks/food and drinks along as prices in the zoo are expensive. Some of the rides like the tram can get costly when added to admission price but it is a nice break from walking around - get a combo ticket if you think you will do all the exhibits. more
