Best

Went to The Belmont during SXSW and had a great time! Ghostland was playing and the place was rockin'. Can't wait to go back.

Worst

Recently they changed ownership. I usually enjoy their happy hour on Sunday evening. It's really not what it use to be. Food is lacking in quailty. Service is pretty terrible....

Upscale, but not too stuffy. Nice Staff more

Not going back... 1/13/2011

The Bellmont had horrible service, it was freezing cold, the tea was luke warm, the check was wrong.... what can I say? For these prices it should be a great experience. Will not go back to the Bellmont. more

Brunch 12/21/2010

Had Sunday morning brunch at the Belmont. If we had added mimosas/drinks to our brunch maybe it would not have seemed so pricey for mediocre food . $18.95-The variety and quality of food was good but not outstanding. I do love the interior of the restaurant and decor. Dark green leathers booths gave an atmosphere that felt very retro. It seems like it would be a better night spot. more

Worst Lunch Ever- new chef 8/13/2010

I used to love going to Belmont for lunch. Last time I went they informed us they had a new chef, but they were still able to bring me something similar to what I was used to ordering. This time, the food was awful. Plain, freezer-burned, salty, cheap. But the same prices as before. Service wasn't great either. We decided at this rate we give them 6 months. more

new ownership - buyer beware 7/7/2010

Recently they changed ownership. I usually enjoy their happy hour on Sunday evening. It's really not what it use to be. Food is lacking in quailty. Service is pretty terrible. The drinks are stiff, but my date didn't get what she asked for. If you've already been drinking and want to listen to good music hit it up; if not I would miss this one and save yourself. Pros: hard to screw up a beer Cons: price, service, quality, managers more

Violent Food Poisoning 5/13/2010

Had such violent food poisoning the other night at Belmont and they didn't give the slightest bit of attention or concern when we called and told them about it. I was almost hospitalized because it was a food with mayonnaise (one of the worst types) yet the manager didn't return a single phone call (3 messages were left). I wasn't looking for a free meal or any compensation but wanted them to at least acknowledge the problem. This was on top of their wait staff trying to overcharge us by $40 on our bill the same night. They said they were charging happy hour prices to get us to order but then charged full price. Ownership apparently changed recently so I urge anyone thinking of going there to think again and go somewhere else. No one should be as violently ill as I was immediately after eating their food! Cons: Do not go there more

Find another place for Brunch 2/22/2010

Brunch; Find some where else to go for your Sunday brunch! This place is OK if you are a college undergrad looking for food on Sunday afternoon after a night of drinking. However, if you are seeking a quality brunch: the food, customer service and atmosphere will not be acceptable. When my wife and I walked in we were sat in the back of the outdoor portion of the restaurant at a table where the seats were wet. The hostess didn't even make an effort to wipe the chairs down. Our waitress took about 10 minutes to come to the table, but she managed to wait on at least 1 other table (seated after us) before bringing us water. Right at the point we were about to leave (10 min) she came to get our order. We ordered the brunch. The wait staff brought out some pretty bad mimosas and some un-warmed Grocery store cinnamon rolls. The ""fresh fruit"" was obviously a grocery store, two day old pre-cut selection. But what capped it all off was how the person delivering the food just threw the food on the table and walked away with out a word. I will never go back there for brunch, and prospects for dinner are slim. We left without tasting the rest of the brunch, and we went to Moonshine where the food, atmosphere and service was great as always. Pros: location Cons: Brunch, Service, food more

Highly Recommended! 2/17/2010

My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Day and it was so nice. Our waiter was very nice and I never felt rushed like some places can make you feel when they are having a busy night. I am vegan and the menu for that night was fixed. Our waiter was so nice and asked the chef what he could do. Apparently the chef had not done any specialty orders that day but was more than happy to accomodate. The food was fantastic and I thought it was so nice how attentive they were to my needs. Pros: Vegan Friendly, great atmosphere more

Loved it!!! 5/26/2009

I celebrated my b-day here Saturday night and had the best time. The waitress was so nice and the staff is just great. The food is awesome and the prices are good! I would recommend this place to anyone!!! Thanks for making my night special! Pros: Food, Staff, Atmosphere more

Worst place for a party 3/20/2009

Almost everything they told me would happen, including a PRIVATE party that was not private, did not happen nor does anyone seem to care. If you want to have an open bar-be careful-they let anyone order drinks on your tab and the desserts came out after most of the guests had left. One thing that can help you save money--you don't need music--you just better hope that whatever band is playing that nite is something you like cause there is no way to avoid it. Best advice: plan a party somewhere else. Pros: Good food Cons: Complete waste of money more

Cool atmosphere, bad food and shotty service 11/4/2008

We arrived at 5 to enjoy a nice meal. It took the waiter a full ten minutes to take our drink order. There was no one else seated at the time. The tuna sashimi appetizer was phenomenal. The crem brulee was burnt and so was my red wine reduction over my filet mignon. The outside host was kicking people off of tables, creating a ruckus. maybe they were having an off night, but in my opinion, the presence of a manager was absent. The place was a bit in disarray. Pros: location and atmosphere Cons: food and service more

1950s Beverly Hills hip 8/22/2008

Two of my coworkers and I went after work. Our waiter was awesome. Food was fab! Note, if you are going to eat a meal, grab a booth- the high bar tables are a bit on the small side. more

Excellent food, great staff 8/20/2008

The Belmont had an appreciation party for my staff this past weekend and everything was great. The food was very good and the help was very attentive. We will recommend The Belmont to everyone. Pros: Great food and staff more

My Place to take my GURLS! 8/18/2008

I have spent many an evening at the Belmont and I have not found a problem with it at all. They are the place to come for free Austin events. THey have Free movies on Mondays, free music on the weekends and the sweetest staff around. Not to mention they are very accommodating to large groups of crazy women. I throughly enjoy their food. and drinks. I would bring any of my out of town friends to eat here. I'm already planning to have a party there latter in the year. So yes take a small drive to downtown warehouse district and go to the Belmont ! Pros: Free Events, Positve people, Fun place to go, Semin-romantic Cons: Highly Priced, No Parking, LIghtling is low more

tacked on extra to my debit card... 8/6/2008

I came here last weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday, using my debit card to buy a drink. The atmosphere was ok (definitely not great), and their drinks were lackluster...we left not too long after arriving. When I double-checked my bank account balance, I noticed the lovely bar staff of the Belmont decided to tack on an additional $1 tip to my card (keep in mind that I already added a tip...this was an extra present someone decided to give him/herself)- definitely *not* ok. All I have to say is that you're better off hitting any one of the similar lounge/bars in the area...you certainly won't be missing much (and hey, at least you won't be losing whatever the staff might decide to tack on your bill after you leave!) more

Overated 2/5/2008

With great anticipation (I had been dying to get here due to all the hype) I took three of my girlfriends here for dinner on a Friday night. One of them was from out of town. I found the atmosphere, for dinner anyway, a bit strange. The more important thing was the waiter/staff. We had the worst service. The waiter would disappear and had no personality. We ordered wine, which was sour - sent it back which was met with alot of grief. When he finally re-appeared with the wine (15 mintes later) he stated that indeed it was sour and did we want another bottle. We then proceeded to get our food. Two of us got fish - which was very bland. So I can end this with something positive, I did enjoy the patio outside. I would go back for a bar atmosphere and for DRINKS ONLY! Pros: Location/Outdoor Patio Cons: Horrible service/food more

This place has a chef? 11/17/2007

I am not sure what to say as the food is not bad but not great. The atmosphere is right on...the drinks are not so good. Pros: Great decorations...nice patio Cons: Poor food, lackluster drinks...dirty polo shirts more
