5th Avenue does it with class! 4/14/2006

We love the 5th Avenue. They get a great array of Broadway shows and everything I've seen here has been top-rate. (Recent shows include A Chorus Line and Les Miserables.) The atmosphere of the theatre is cozy and warm. It feels very "old world" with the rich mouldings and dark wood everywhere, but I have to agree with the previous poster who mentioned that the illusion is lost when so many theatre-goers arrive in their jeans, sweatshirts and docs. It is really *that* much trouble to "dress" for the theatre? I really wish we in Seattle could "get" that there are (or should be) different levels of dress for different venues and activies. more

Some like it hot! 4/8/2006

Overall, a good theatre, but the atmosphere was literally very stuffy! I was boiling in my seat during Miss Saigon (the play was good, but the male lead was a shrieking nightmare!). I was dismayed to see so many of the audience members in shorts and casual tee's. Seems like with the price of tickets you should at least make an effort to have a classy evening instead of just wandering in off the street (shopping bags and all). Great shows keep touring, so watch the newspapers for showtimes of upcoming shows. more

A Piece of Broadway in Seattle 8/19/2005

Simply stated, I love this theater! They have so many great shows playing here, I wish I could clone myself to go and see all of them. And then there is the ambiance of the theater itself. The elaborate moldings make the venue seem very glamorous. Unfortunately, given the casual nature of Seattle, the illusion is lost when you see many of the patrons milling about in inappropriate attire. So, my suggestion is find a show you want to see, get all dressed up and head to the theater. more
