The best place to rent videos in Champaign-Urbana is That’s Rentertainment. They have the most extensive collection of foreign films including most of Asia, Africa, and Europe. They must have at least tens of thousands of movies in that little store so if you can’t find something, I’m sure you’ll find it there. Movie rentals are also fairly cheap so that’s definitely a positive. The only downside is that parking is hard to find since it’s located in the heart of campus town at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. more

My friend, who was a student at the University of Illinois before I was, couldn't stop raving about a video rental store located on campus called That's Rentertainment. When I began my education at U of I, that was one of the first places I checked out. First of all, the location is great, right on the heart of campus. Easy to find and is within walking distances of everything on campus. At first, I was a little thrown off by the size of the store. It's small, cramped, slightly cluttered. It seemed disorganized. I had a little bit of trouble at first locating what I want, but once you figure out where all the sections are, it's easy to handle. They're selection is enormous. Its hard to believe that they could fit so many movies in such a small space. There's old movies, new releases, foreign films, television shows, b-movies, documentaries, independent films, anime... And the prices are very good. They have $1 specials virtually every day (excluding Friday and Saturday, which are peak days). Wednesdays are 2 for 1. Normal pricing is $2.50 per rental, or 3 rentals for $6.00, which in itself isn't bad at all. more

This place has such a great selection of movies. You will find movies here that you won't find at the big chain stores. They have a lot of anime, foreign films, documentaries, independent films, older movies, but they also have the new releases and the more popular movies too. The location is great - right in the heart of campus and on your way to and from everywhere. The workers are always really friendly and if you need movie suggestions, they know their stuff. more

That's Rentertainment has the best selection of any video store I've ever been too. They have many out of print titles and lots of foreign films. My only beef with them is that often the VHS tapes are so old that they won't play correctly and the DVDs are scratched more often than at other places like Blockbuster. But, if you're looking for something other than the standard Hollywood fare, this is your only choice. more

It locates at the heart of the campus so is very convenient for the students. It is not a big store but has many rare, foreign, and interesting selections. The parking might be a little bit difficult during the weekdays. But after 5pm and during the weekend, there is a parking building right next to it so it should not be a problem to find a parking space. more

This is a place where the owner simply loves movies and music, and she hires employees that share the passion. That is why it is stocked with films from all different countries, including those found in different formats, and you can find the movies categorized by each country rather than under the blanket term "international." They have a website where you can search to see if they stock a movie. Sunday through Thursday they have a different deal, like $1 foreign movies on Monday and two for one movies on Wednesdays. They have an entire wall of anime and music dvds, so you can found all kinds of specialty movies here. Plus, the prices are super, super cheap. more
