Save your dollar bills 2/28/2012

I ordered the Thai Pavilion Duck for delivery which was supposed to 1/2 an entire duck for $18. What came was couple slices of duck and sauteed veggies all drowning and drenched in heavy sauce. I put it on a real plate to see the actual portion and it looked like a kid's meal. I'm a skinny guy with a normal appetite but this portion was ridiculous, as if the delivery amigo ate half of it. The taste was too thick with sodium and heavy sauce and it could have been any kind of meat. Maybe its a delivery thing but I definitely not ordering from this place. more

Neighborhood Thai Gem 5/19/2008

Our family has been going to this restaurant since we moved to Astoria 13 years ago. The food is carefully and beautifully prepared and has been consistently excellent over the years. Ingredients are fresh, lovely spices and some nice hot spicy dishes for those who love spice, like us! We love the atmosphere; fresh flowers on the table, tasty decorations and the wait staff in beautiful Thai ensembles. Restaurant is spotless, well run and friendly. We go here for special occasions and for nice evening out. A gem of a restaurant. Pros: Great food, beautiful atmosphere and good prices more

Excellent Thai in Queens 12/29/2007

I have been eating at Thai Pavillion for over 13 years. It's a family owned business and original owners are still running the business. Food is consistantly great! It is authentic Thai food, take it from a girl who visited the Country of Thailand. Service is great, the restaurant is always extremely clean which is very, very important to me. It has become a tradition in my family (party of 20) to dine there every New year's Eve. You should really give it a try!!! Pros: Receive a warm welceom, excellent food more

Use to be good 2/13/2007

I've dined here several times years ago when it first opened. It was very good and the chef/owner was always there tending things. But in the past years the food have definitely gone down the drain and I don't see the chef/owner anymore. Maybe they changed owner or she has stepped down and someone else is cooking The past 3 meals, there was always something wrong. The flavor was not there and at times, there were no flavor at all(forgot the spices including salt) Too bad, but it was great at one time. I did really like it and maybe give them one more chance, but I will write again if they fail to to improve. Try for yourself. Cons: food needs improvement/expensive for the quality they are serving more

Delicious! 1/17/2007

I am not sure about other people but the decor doesn't bother me. I don't go to restaurants for the decor-I go for their food.\r If the restaurant has great food, then I am there. As for the decor-WHO CARES! \r \r I recommend getting the mussels from here. Since Mrs. A-the mother/owner makes the best sauce-it's delectable, tasty, and spicy. Even though the sauce comes only with the mussels, I dip everything in this sauce.\r I LOVE IT!\r \r I would go here again and again, but unfortunately I live in the city but I am willing to travel all the way to Queens just to have Thai food from this establishment! Pros: Mussels-SAUCE Cons: NOTHING more

Great food, great service 1/24/2006

This is a gem of a place. The food and service are really great and the prices are excellent. Pros: Prices, Food, Service Cons: None! more

Very tasty, not greasy thai! 8/19/2004

I've eaten a lot of thai food in my day. This place has, by far the best Thai food in Astoria. The shrimp are always fresh and delicious (and well cleaned) and the flavors are wonderful and the food is never too greasy. The staff could be more attentive, but there is an ambiance here that is confusing, since there is an air of stuffiness among the staff, while the decor is tacky and spare. Try the steamed vegetable dumplings, which are obviously homemade - very delicate. The shrimp soup is perfect. Pros: food is above average, full variety in menu, quiet for conversatio Cons: , unattractive space more

Delicate mix of spices, not just spicy 12/23/2002

This Thai restaurant may not serve the most authentic Thai cuisine, but their sophisticated use of spices is excellent in any dish. Chicken with coriander and duck dishes are excellent, but don't try their Tom Yum soups. And don't miss Pumpkin Castard for dessert. Pros: clean Cons: cash only, slow service more
